We live in a suburban area with lots of asphalt and concrete. We all know what happens to dogs' pads when walked on hot pavement. Plus he doesn't like the sun and heat at all. And in the winter, they use a TON of salt around here, which can hurt their pads. So, it seems like a treadmill would be a good solution. But what kind do I get? What brand name? Where do I buy it? What features do I get? What size? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks. |

If it wasn't for the heat issue, boots are cheaper. But I understand Brick's reluctance to heat, especially since he is getting older. I don't know anyone with a treadmill for their pet, sorry can't help. |
I use my treadmill works perfect. The actually wait in line to have their turn. They don't need to be tethered either; they just do it now. |
Many people use treadmills to condition their show dogs. I don't have any input on models, as I can't use them. With my motion sickness issues, they are really, really bad for me. |
Who would be a good resource to check with? My vet? Maybe a dog physical therapy place? Dawn, Does The Paw have any? |

Most people use a regular human one for exercise and conditioning. Maybe check with some human fitness - oriented people you may know? |
Never had a treadmill but if I ever have a big enough house to put one in boy am I getting one lol |
In the past I looked into this as well. I googled dog threadmill and lots came up. They were VERY expensive. Is there a dog club or training facility near you that you can "rent" for a half hour or so in the hot weather to maybe let him run around and do some training to off set his energy? Or maybe an enclosed ball field with grass? |
I saw some in the $500-$700 range. That didn't seem bad to me. |
