I was afraid it wasn't going to make the round trip. Instead, it ran awesome and delivered remarkable fuel economy. On the way out, it returned mileage of just a bit better than 20 mpg (11.8 L/100 km). There was some non-highway driving in there. On the way home, it got about 22.5 mpg (10.5 L/100 km). This from a 14 year old 4wd Chevy Blazer with a big V-6 and 157K miles (252667 km). I guess there's life left in the old girl after all. |

If she doesn't have road rot and you've been good with the 4W transmission, changing oil properly, no reason she shouldn't be OK......assuming you haven't been cramming the guts out of her for the first 150,000 miles. Most of our cars easily go over 150,000. Old 71 Volvo was 300,000. |
I bought it used almost 4 years ago. It had 133K miles then. It was a Chevy dealer's shuttle vehicle from the southern tier of NY (not nearly the salt we use in central NY). I know it was in at least 2 accidents. I think the original tranny went and they auctioned it off. A shady looking used car lot picked it up from the auction, put a used tranny in it, and I found it there. I had my mechanic look it over before buying it and he said it was the best one I brought him. So I bought it for $3K. It has had, and continues to have some issues, but it's been very reliable. |
Us old girls tend to keep going and going and going! |
Yay Diane! How true! Wow on the blazer mark! That is amazing. I thought when a car needs new windshield wipers, you are to trade it in! |
With the new alignment on my RV we are hoping to jump all the way to 9.0 MPG! |
