Food attitude change

Winston has always been very food motivated, ready to eat a bowl of anything any time we offered it. Dexter's haircut seems to have traumatized him! Since he saw Dex's new short doo he has not eaten an entire meal! He often turns his nose up and doesn't eat anything! He acts fine, lots of energy, good stools, just isn't interested in food.

Maybe he thinks Dex is svelte and feels he needs to lose a few pounds?

Interesting theory :)

How old is he now?
Also, many dogs really drop off their intake in hot weather, especially the change when hotter weather arrives. Some are totally unchanged, but some dogs it does affect.
I'd go first with heat. Yeah, maybe the uncertainty that his buddy is really hiding behind less hair. Have they played, walked together, gone for a swim together? How about the big RV together?

If all else is well, his energy is up (weather considerations) his attitude is good and of course the poop is good, the I'd relax.
We're not very concerned. His change was sudden and coincidental with Dex's haircut.

Their play is different, Win is trying harder to be dominant, Dex allows it for a while, then puts him in his place in a non-hostile but firm way and Win reverts to the Bravo Dog, though never submissive.

I am struck that Win is a little conflicted, like the 13-year old boy that is trying to be manly but still has the need to cuddle with his mommy and can't figure out what's going on. He gets over exuberant over something like a visitor or our return and looks like he is saying "I know this is wrong but I can't help myself! Please help me stop!"

Neither of our boys would be hurt my missing a meal or 3 so we aren't concerned. Like they say, a dog will never allow itself to be starved if food is available.

If a dog cannot eat due to injury or illness.......... Your dog is still young, like an adolescent.....who knows what's developing inside......especially with the boys. That's why I love them so......they are so.........boys.
Our guys are a study in boys. They perfectly fit the roles of bossy, but protective, big brother and annoying little brother. Win often acts like he really wants to be just like Dex, it sometimes looks like he is studying what he is doing then tries to copy it. When Win wants to play Dex has little chance of finishing his nap. When Win is doing something Dex doesn't think he should do he is quickly corrected, especially if he feels Win is playing too rough with me or being too big a jerk over the brush. Win has to be first in line for treats, pets or going outside but he lets Dex come inside first or go into another room in the house first (maybe its Dex's house to him?)
