"Ahhroooooooooooooooooooooooo" We sat up in bed and looked for Harry to see what was going on. Was there an intruder? He was on the floor by the foot of the bed SOUND ASLEEP. He has howled on rare occasions when he is awake because he can't be with his mommy. But he has never outright bayed before. That must have been some dream because he never woke up even when Tim and I were whispering and laughing about him. Tim was able to fall back asleep in seconds, of course. I was wide awake and tossed and turned for two hours. |

lol wow, I've seen them yip and moan in their sleep but never bark or howl. |
Haha, that had to be a great dream!! Maybe he was serenading Heart |

Each of ours have done the full howl while sleeping before. It is always very disconcerting It can be so sad or scary sounding Not being able to get back to sleep...that sucks |
That must have been one good dream!!!! Now Maggie does that, but she is fully awake, like any good coonhound she is very nocturnal. Now not falling back asleep - that is rough. Harry owes you! |
Brick has done that from time to time. But nothing in the past few years. Just like you say: middle of the night, everyone (including him) sleeping, and then the scariest, most blood curdle-ing howl. It starts low in both pitch and volume, crescendos, and then trails back off again. And the pitch would wobble. Sounded like he was being murdered. It would wake us right up. Talk about jumping out of your skin! Of course he was blissfully unaware of the whole ordeal. |
WOW! Never a full out howl. Squeaks, mini barks, moans but never a full out howl! Yeah, that would wake me up too! |
Wow Harry, a full blown howl! That must have been scary, but it sounds like Harry had a great time in his sweet dreams. Sorry for the "wake up" hopefully you'll recover some extra zzzzz's tonight. |
My 3 and half year old Labradoodle did that recently. She has never howled in her life! We both literally jumped out of bed as Ramsey came running. She was dead asleep! She woke up with bed-head looking at all 3 of us like, what is going on, why are you awake looking at me, lol. In her dreams, she runs, barks, yips, tail goes, all things she does in life, but never a howl, lol. |
Bet that gave you a start Dutch does that when my daughter leaves a message on the phone and of course I replay it just to hear her (Dutch not Leslie ) |
Too funny! |
Harry brie feels your dream. She says to tell you even though she did not wake, she woke the family with howls and noises like she was in pain and death throws. She got her mum and dad flying out of bed to her and all was some sort of dream (Nightmare) much to her mum and dads relief We woke ran to her and she never ever even opened an eye at all the commotion she caused, in fact she was when we checked on her straight away, obviously the nightmare/dream had pssed and snoring her head off |
He hasn't been reading any Jack London novels, like "White Fang" or "Call of the Wild" has he? Archie is a baying beasty normally about 3 am when the foxes are squabbling. |
