I just got the results of the "snap test" back and it is an all clear. He has probably been clear for months but the vet wanted to wait 6 more months after before testing. He said his heart and lungs sounded really good too. For those of you who don't remember, on the advice of several members and a local mobile vet, I chose to do the "slow kill" method, without the painful shots, the high risk and without vet quarantine time. It was a long process; 6 months on a leash, no play or excitement, strict antibiotics schedule, steroids and Advantage Multi - but it worked!! For any of you who encounter young heartworm positive dogs and you want an alternative to the standard, painful way of heartworm treatment, this seems like a really good option. At least it worked for Muffin. Just wanted to share the news and again say thank you for all of your expertise, help, love and encouragement!!! |
