Frankie update

Frankie came home tonight.
He was diagnosed with
Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis with colostridial overgrowth.
He has a lot of meds and a small bland diet for awhile
He's happy wiggly and bouncy.
The staff fell in love with him.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.

Glad he is home and on the mend. :D
Is that colostridal overgrowth an over abundance of a bad bacteria?
Kinda like when humans get that nasty C diff?
Does he have to take a good bacteria supplement?

What's his prognosis?
He'll be fine.
It's a nasty bacteria.
From eating something bad.
Not really sure what he got into.
He does eat rabbit poo on occasion.
Bad treats, bad dog food, yucky water.
He's never left unattended, so I just am not sure.
It is contagious, humans can catch it, and it lives in soil forever.

New Property maybe?

Thank god he's going to be OK. :phew: Was starting to really worry.

Dogs find ways to get into things. They're very creative that way

:) glad he is home. Must be a sweetie to be charming the staff at the vets office even when he is sick!
That is a relief. Not that he is sick, but that they were able to identify it and treat it. Please give him extra hugs from me! :ghug:

I was worried about your boy!!! Oscar had something similar when he had a bad bout of IBD, and it's pretty scary. Glad to hear that Frankie is on the mend.

Glad to hear Frankie is getting better. My mom's dog had that last week and was at the vets overnight, but she is feeling better. The same thing, they don't know where she picked it up.
I'm so glad to hear he's doing better and back home!

:D :D
Sounds like a doggie version of C diff. New property probably has plenty of rabbit, deer, skunk, etc poo..........all good snacking. Remember Jack got over his gut problems with kefir and slippery elm bark. Kefir for the good gut bacteria (unless he's allergic to milk) and slippery elm bark coats the gut. Something to think about for the future. Right now stick to the meds

Glad he is home!
:yay: :yay: :clappurple: :clappurple: Glad he is home! Now, Frankie, stop getting into bad stuff!! Mom knows best :hearts:

So happy to read this :yay: :yay: It doesn't sound like a fun thing to have but does sound like something they can cure and soon he will be all better. Welcome home Frankie :clappurple:
Give him a hug and kiss!
:phew: glad he is feeling better and on the mend
Glad your baby is home, just be carefull with frankie and the HGE, Babette had that at 2 and I thought she was going to die with the amount of fresh blood passing out of her rear. She spent 4 days on a drip at the hospital, thought she was going to die on me. Due to a Corona Virus that she passed onto Syd and Brie, both them had diarreah and vomitting but babs had the HGE as well (blood pouring out of her rear) so quite awhile also on medication and a special diet to settle things down.

Carefull feeding also along with his meds is needed at this stage too, to not aggrivate the inflammation and scouring of what has already occured.

So glad frankie is home and such a scary thing to happen to you and frankie, I know how you must feel, firstly your baby is home (YAY) and secondly friggin scary what happened to your man.

xxLisa
