Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Wpn3dFrEs I always thought the song was about a girl who either died, or ran away, or went insane, or was spaced out on drugs. But listening to it recently, I was thinking of Brick, and the obviously short lives of our pups. I replaced "Shannon" with "Brickles" and "she" with "he" and it made me very sad. So I looked up the meaning of the song today and it turns out Henry Gross wrote the song about the passing of Carl Wilson's Irish Setter who was named Shannon. This is the same Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys. Knowing that the song is REALLY about the passing of a beloved dog makes it even sadder. |

I did not know that. |
I didn't know it either - shared with Todd too. |
Well I'm a blubbering idiot now. How is it that I find it so much more sad now that I know it was about a dog and not a person? Having lost Tucker recently, it really made me so sad, but I had to listen... Shellie |
