Now I really wish I didn't have to go outside to get to my utility room. I need some clothes washed, and I'm kinda freaked out right now. It may be quieter to have it separated, but my next house is going to have a utility room INSIDE the actual house! lol |

Take Jasper with you, he'll let you know if anything's up. I'm glad my dogs bark to alert me, but sometimes.... I offer them a trip to the store for a bark collar. |
That is scary!! My husband has to work about 3 nights a week and I hate it. It's amazing how vulnerable you can feel when you're home alone with your kids. I'm glad to hear Jaspar was so good. We weren't really looking for a "watch dog" when we wanted an OES, but it's good to hear that they do clue into stuff like that. Can your laundry wait until morning?

Gail, I understand exactly what you mean! Brian is gone a lot too with his job...I love having Panda as an alert...Tip from Brian who is an excop...take the phone with you to the door with 911 pre dialed, dont answer the door to anyone, even in a uniform...ask to show the badge and say thru the door that youre calling 911 to verify the call..if they are legit..they will wait!!!!! Please be careful, and I agree, if you have the hinky feeling wait to do laundry until morning |
What a good boy! I hope you gave him some treats and a belly rub! I know that must've been a little scary.
I was by myself at work one day, so I brought Beaureguard with me. I usually lock the door when I'm here alone, but I had forgotten that day. These two guys pulled into the parking lot and started to come in the door. Beau met them at the door, barking. They backed away and asked if it was okay for them to come in. I told them to let me get him on his leash and then they could. (No point in letting them know he'd just lick them to death!) We're in an industrial park and our business does not have customers come through the door. As suspected, they were salesmen doing cold calls. Still, I liked that my boy was alert and "protecting" his Mom! |
Tammy....Good boy Beau!!! I brought Panda to work with me a couple of times, but she is to hard to keep still...I have clients come in etc, and she jumps, licks, and slobbers over anyone that walks through the door! 18 weeks of training and it only works at home, not in public |
I love that Barney has him 'big boy' bark now. The other night someone rang the doorbell at 2 in the morning (it was one of those things that I was so sound asleep I couldn't be sure if the bell rang or not, but our neighbor the next day said the same thing happened to them) but the second the bell rang Barney started barking as deeply as he could. I feel much safer with him at home... |
Clyde stuck his huge head out the door barking and growling like a big guy when the pizza guy came today and the guy jumped off the porch and was halfway down the walk before we said it was ok. James tried to tell him he was only puppy and the guy was like, yeah, right! |
Awee.. i'm so glad you have your OES with ya! I've had my maltese and well... outside of barking, she's no scare.
When I'm scared, I just make a lot of noise as I go towards a room or outside in hopes to scare the boogeymen away. lol |
So glad you're safe, Gail! Give that beautiful baby boy some extra belly rubs from up north!

What a good boy you have Gail !
I had a door to door salesman come to the house. I couldn't see who it was but I could see someone waving through the peep hole. I opened the door and the dogs shot out of the door. I usually keep the outer entryway door shut so it's never a problem. I called the dogs back but the guy had already ran out the outer door and shut up. He asked me if the dogs were ok. I said I wouldn't trust any of them lol I send the Kirby Man on his way... Just incase he wasn't who he said he was he now thinks I have viscous dogs... Elissa |
Thanks everyone! The lights went off shortly after that...lol It was just a coincidence. I live in a really rural area, and if the wind blows, the power goes out. I really freaked out then though. My parents "kidnapped" my kids for the entire week! UGH. They're on vacation, and they had the kids call me and beg me to let them go on the trip with them. When I said no, they started crying.... My husband wasn't on my side, and he kept saying let them go, they'll have fun. So I gave in. Now my boys are in the mountains in Chattanooga, and I'm still stuck here in the evenings alone. I miss them!!!! |
