A young kid in a small pickup flew past me with 2 dogs in the back. Both were standing and I was afraid they would fall out. This #^@*(%# wove in and out of traffic with no regard for his dogs or anyone on the road. I just hope they arrived safely, but I can't stop thinking about it. Those dogs would be dead if they flew out or got rear ended I wonder if there's a law that deals with this? |

I see that all the time and it always bothers me too... |
It happens all the time here. I hate seeing it too. |
That is upsetting. Some states have laws prohibiting or
restricting animals in cargo beds of trucks: Florida, New Hampshire, California, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Virginia and Oregon. In our state the dog needs to be restrained , but it still upsets me to see them in the back of a truck. I'm always concerned if the vehicle gets in an accident. In our town, we also have another potentially dangerous situation. We are in a rural enviroment and many people are horseback riding or moving horses (on foot )via the roads. many motorists have no respect and approach the horses at top speed. We live on a hill and the steep dirt road near our house is one of these areas. The horseback riders are very safe, walking their horse after dismounting. They are then better able to walk into driveways and other areas off the road. I am very angry when I see motorists see the horses and riders and continue at top speed. Very few motorists slow down. We have laws in our state which are being ignored. Our police department is small but monitoring many roads, but you can not be everywhere... I hope no one gets injured or worse... Its heartbreaking that some folks are so pressured, they can not slow down to enjoy the beauty of the countryside.... |
Yeah, I know in CA the dogs have to be restrained on a leash or something in the back of the pickup, but really, what's that going to do? It might prevent them from jumping out on their own, but if there's an accident, they'll be in trouble... |
