We're on a trip and can't visit our vet but may have to hit an out of town vet. Nothing has changed in his diet, hasn't been bathed in over a week, etc |
|
Poor Winston! Glad that he hasn't been bothered with it. Maybe a contact problem? You mentioned that you are on a trip, in the motor home? Any recent chemical cleaning, soil repellants, carpet cleaning in areas where he rests? Hope you can find a solution soon. Poor baby |
That occasionally happens - it did with our 1st OES Oliver, and to Chewie now a few times. I just wash with warm water, pat dry and put a gentle cream on. Something not perfumed, so it won't sting. Even some vaseline would do in a pinch, seeing you are traveling. I would guess as mentioned, that it might be some "new" carpet, etc stuff. Or it might be that he is a tad nervous and licked them more than usual. My guys have this in cold weather....but I'm pretty sure that's not your issue |
Ouch!! Poor boy... that has to be uncomfortable. Hope that cream helps! |
I've seen this happen also, gold bond medicated powder seemed to help. |
Our vet recommended Hexa-Caine spray. Easier to apply and seems to soothe immediately and discourages chewing the affected site. We bought it from the vet but it's also available on line at Amazon. |
If the neosporin is causing him pain, how about plain vaseline? Gold bond powder will burn alot...Bactricin cream might be okay. But vaseline should not hurt and should be soothing... |
The Neosporin isn't doing anything. We are far from home but will try to find at least one of the remedies suggested here. I know I can find Vaseline! |
Gold bond didn't seem to bother Willy at all when he went through this, if anything he seemed to find it soothing. |
