Here is the thing when I walk them if a dog barks from their yard they ignore. But if a dog is own leash Langley reacts excited and bounces to play. So Laika turns on him. FUN! It will be very interesting to say the least. Or should I say crazy. Has anyone ever seen someone take two dogs to training? |

I haven't seen anybody do 2 at once but it sounds fun! I know we did the level 2 training with both of ours at home when Leonard was taking the class. Ru took his basic obedience but isn't as challenging as they say sheepdogs could be so we stopped at level 1. Was doing all of the exercises with them at home though and it was good, I found Leonard was way more focussed when we were doing training with Ru around, they are also way better behaved when they are together in public; maybe there is something to that. Now I wish we had taken them both! Have fun |
Good luck and hope they pass |
Wow that was a lot of work. So many dogs in the class. Lot of dogs reacting to mine too one GSD had a melt down. Mine were good lots of treats directing their attention away to the freak outs. I screwed up in the beginning of class and wasn't paying attention. Pulled to quick on Laika when a dog came towards her so she redirected at Langley. But after that all went well. It will be hard but I figure this is what my life , dealing with two dogs I should take a class with both. |
I haven't taken class with 2 of mine. Mostly because we actually aren't even the students in most of the training we do - too busy being the instructor. Mine are at class (2 or 3 of them at each class) exposed to all the craziness going on by being in the center of the ring, with all the dogs going around them. They learn really early to just observe and not to react. Maybe I should market this concept! They also work amongst the out of control dogs to demo things...so my dogs get quite the learning experiences, at least twice a week for almost every week of the year. It makes for real solid and trustworthy dogs in pretty much any sort of dog setting or behavior. One thing we do have the option of, is to be therapy dog teams. One handler with 2 dogs. You must test with each dog separately...like all do. If you want to take 2 dogs at once, you need to complete the entire test with both dogs, to prove your dogs can function, you can function, and all 3 of you can work as a calm and well controlled team in any situation. I have 3 of my dogs certified as therapy dogs currently - Chewie, Bond, and Riley (rat terrier). I have also tested with Chewie and Riley as a team, and Chewie and Bond as a team. So I can take these in combos on visits. |
I've seen many people take two to classes. But not together in the same class. I've seen them come in, crate one and do the class. Then crate that one and do the class again with the other. the trick is finding classes back to back like that so you don't make two trips. Good luck with your classes. Keep us posted! |
Both dogs by myself at the same time. Wanted to do both at once; that is the whole idea. Crazy as it is. Let's say I had a nice glass of wine when I got home last night as reward to myself. They managed to eat a whole bag of dehydrated treats last night in class. |
This seems like a great idea!! Exhausting, but great |
