http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/main_shop ... 7%3A897905 My parents wanted the boys tonight, so my husband and I drove half way to let them take the boys. We were gone about 1 hour 15 mins total... We came back home, and Jasper was barking like crazy. We could hear him when we got out of our van. I open up the door to see what is wrong with him, and he pushed his black pan out from under him and he pulled IN the black metal bar at the bottom. Agh...my husband managed to bend it back into place (kinda), but it's still dented in quite a bit. I can't believe he bent the metal on the kennel like that. I thought that it was a pretty sturdy kennel, and I really don't want to put him in a varikennel. Mostly because I like watching him when he sleeps, the kind like I have is easier to clean, etc... but if ti does a better job at keeping him in, that might be the answer. Anyone have any kennel suggestions??? He had plenty of food & water in there (which ALL got spilt on the floor whe he pulled the pan out), so I know that wasn't a problem. He also took care of business right before we left. I have no idea what set him off today. Our only guess is the cat terrorized him while we were away! lol |

Wow... I think a vari kennel might be safer for him maybe just for when you are away... |
Yikes! I was just browsing online at kennels, and I came across this website!
http://www.kennelsafety.com/ I think I'm going to order Jasper a Vari Kennel today and keep him out of that one until the new one arrives. |
What horrific stories I had tears running down my face, these should be taken off the market. I'm so glad Jasper is okay |
Wow! Bailey has the same kennel and we've never had a problem like that. Then again, we don't have a cat But I can see how Jasper could push the bottom out if he wanted to. Poor boy! Obviously something or someone got him really upset.
We love that particular kennel because it's so easy to break it down and take it with us when we're going away for a weekend or leaving Bailey with family. So no matter where he is, he gets to sleep in the same environment. But, he's amazingly calm when he's crated, so I don't have to worry about the strength of the frame. |
Oh my...
I can't believe they still sell these kennels! If you can't get a new kennel, I would say that you should reinforce all the places where those hooks are with wire ties. At least that would help it from coming apart. Also, I'd drill a couple of small holes in the pan, maybe where it angles, and wire tie it to the frame. I would definitely be very careful using this kennel while he is alone! |
