I can't seem to get over the tail thing though and don't think they look quite right with a tail! They still refered to the OES as the Bob tail which was quite funny because the one in the show ring clearly was not a bob tail! Bailey has a bob and I think I prefer it that way now and I have had OES dogs with both but there is something about their bum wiggling that you don;t seem to get with a long tail in the way! lol OES |
|
Better Luck next time! By the way - tails are beautyful - That's my opinion! The winner: Ch. Aryakas Genesis at Bauvallon BOB at Cruft and BIG 4. |
Aw .I love the tails. |
they do have lovely tails, but I love the no-tail roll |
So sorry that you didn't make the cut. But a big congratulations to Nick! |
I have never shown a dog and don;t know anything about it but I always try to watch crufts to see if an OES gets in the final. I would love to see one win Crufts one day! I do like the none tail roll so glad our dog doesn;t have the tail. One of the OES x bitches we had once used to smash her tail so hard off things when she wagged it that it got really sore and I ended up having to bandage the thing! Sometimes they are more trouble than worth. OES - great the OES got 4th place - who is Nick? Does he post on here??????? |
That's Nikolas Kanales (Aryakas OES) from Greece. I don't think he's member of this forum. |
Maggie McGee IV wrote: That's Nikolas Kanales (Aryakas OES) from Greece. I don't think he's member of this forum. Thats sad if he isn't we could have learned a few things! Like how does he get his OES to look like that????????? Mine always look like they just rolled in a puddle of muck! Even when I wash them they NEVER stay clean. My sister said she sprayed her collie with horse cleaning stuff????????? She said the mud just brushed off but I am not that convinced it would work on an OES???? I wouold love mine to look like a dulux add just once for photos I think the nearest I got to a good looking OES was this pic of Murphy but he was still not in "full" coat. The baby just looks like he rolled out of bed!!!!! A long way to go to have a coat anything like the one at Crufts! It is a real powder-puff ball! My dog looks more like the end of a used floor mop! OES |
I love tails...think it is not nice to have them cut. As for being white I think the floor mop is quite a good definition of what Summer looks like! |
I'd take a scruffy bouncy monster over a poofball any day! there is something about the show standard that is so far away from what these animals are really like! |
I love both. Big nice fluffy tails, more fluff to love. There is nothing like a big fluffy wagging tail and bum all at the same time. Never have had an issue with lil injuring her tail and it constantly is going!!! I also like the docked look. Big sheepie bear butts. |
That was not the best dog there in my books |
http://photos.oes.org/displayimage.php? ... at=0&pos=4 |
Georgi was upside down & Sam waiting to go in the ring. The one at the bottom photo should of won the lot. Best dog there. Val & Mel done very well & had a third. We did not do so well ( better luck next year ). Judge was not very good in my book as there was some very good dogs & bitches did not get placed. More pics to come. Sam has a few as well |
Oh lovely to see the pics of crufts. We don;t get much coverage on the TV and only see a few minuites of the OES dogs. I do wish they would stop the silly talk and show more of the SHOW!!!!!! Oes |
What was the number of OES showing? Looks like a nice entry. |
I do have lots of pics of bloo in his class they will be on here soon Personally I don't think the right dog won oh well. There were 7 in my class but 2 absent. Bloo came 5th |
Open dog there was 20 and open bitch there was 22. There was 12 in our group . I think there was 138 OESD on the day in total. So good numbers |
Parwaz wrote: Open dog there was 20 and open bitch there was 22. There was 12 in our group . I think there was 138 OESD on the day in total. So good numbers That was a great number. I was watching thinking I wonder if my breeder was there? I was told that our Pups mum was all Ireland champion but I don't know what year or anything She was from Cork. Oes |
There were a few good ones from Ireland |
Georgi |
Lincoln actually got a first in limit dog and Esher got a 4th in yearling Bitch. I was really pleased with the results... |
I thought Esher got a third and good result for limit. I thought Esher should of got at least the top two. Her movement was the best of the group and she stood very well. |
Well that's over this year. Val and Mel was tops also Sam done very well and when blo gets his full coat he will be a lot better and for us the only way is up. |
Parwaz wrote: I thought Esher got a third and good result for limit. I thought Esher should of got at least the top two. Her movement was the best of the group and she stood very well. Thanks Parwaz, however, I was up against faces so was pleased with the result nonetheless! I was really pleased with Lincolns result, as he looked stunning... |

Bloo came 5th Sam, you and Bloo did very well as I mentioned while at Crufts, the judge could have withheld the placing. It has been known in the past. Once Bloo has a full coat and you obtain the brushes we have mentioned then I am sure you will do well with him. I look forward to seeing the photos in due course. On another note, I quite like Gina and always have |

I do indeed know Colm and Rose Hastings, however, they were not showing at Crufts and if I am honest I dont remember seeing them around the ring. They do pop over every so often for some of the major Champ Shows. I believe they have made their current girl up to an English Champion or they are waiting for one more CC. |

[/quote] Well I was told Bailey's Mum was all ireland champ So I guess they are doing great. His dad got best in show in Dublin in November when I picked Bailey up. Colm is a lovely man. I am so pleased I waited and got a good boy in Bailey bear (Bearamor Adrians way!) When we lost Murphy I was beside myself with grief as it was so quick. Colm was wonderful to me and helped a lot with the way I felt about the sudden and devastating loss of Murphy. I hope I can do well by him and give Bailey a really good home. I have emailed Raggletaggle a few times and sent photos he asked for but I have heard nothing back. So thought they were busy with crufts comming up and all that. I am so lucky to have a good breeder and a wonderful boy in Bailey. Even though I want to kill him sometimes! Lol He was up again in the night last night Darn! Funny thing is I had to choose him from a picture and just trust - which was all the wrong things to do but we went though accredited breeders in the Irish Kc. I am so very lucky but I still grieve for Murphy sooo much. I find I am bonding more with the bear now he is getting bigger when he was tiny I just felt nothing - and if I am honest resented him being here playing with Murphy's toys, eating out of his bowls and playing with his friend giz! But I am over that now and I realise nothing I do will bring Murph back- I have to learn to love Bailey and how good is that!!!!!!! Oes |

Thanks grete loved the BOB bitch she moves beatifully. Lovely head on her too, would love to feel or have a going over of her, loved the Dog CC and BOS also too admired that boy for awhile too. Lovely entry of OES and just being there would of been wonderfull to see all the sheepies entered. Heck just showing at crufts is an honour in itself. Loving the tails too after having OES since 1976 docked, they amaze me everyday those waggy things. Still one left docked since the ban was brought in here, youngsters those waggy things are amazing Parwaz I find your comment on Crufts and the breed Judge not great, your a newbie to showing and have a long way to go & learn about the breed overtime and not be biase, did you put hands on the dog that got BOB? Did you watch it around the ring. Unfortunately without years of experience if that is your comment "you thought there was better ones entered on the day, maybe you should take up judging then would like to know with your limited experience being able to make that comment" on a judges choice on the day. You are not going to last long in the showring if that is your attitude!. All judges have differing opinions on what they like in a BOB, that's why we all world wide enter and show, if all judges have the same opinion then really you may as well resign from showing. The BOB a European Bitch, stunning the BOS the Male CC winner again another stunning example of the breed. What's your problem a UK, home of the breed did not take any major awards for the breed but in another continent did? Bloo's mum, you did a great job for your first time at crufts, enjoyed the photos so much, well done and hopefully we see you and bloo next year with that first experience under your belt over with. Such an honour to exhibit at "Crufts" Well done to both of you. Bloo needs a bit more maturity, nice example of the breed, hoping next year to see bloo more mature and romping it in, in his class. You both looked fabulous in the photos. |
Thanks for adding this, Lisa. We amateurs tend to forget that we have a lot to learn when it comes to judging dogs. Another day, another dog show! |
Lisa I don,t care if I come first or last. Yes I have still lots to learn but when a dog limps around a ring and gets placed and I could go on but I won't. The little time I have been showing there are a few odd things that go on. Sorry but I am not the type to sit in the corner and shut up and if the judges judge fair and people would not come out with comments and that's why the numbers are going down. Most of the judges are honest and fair and I have been told that how it is. That dog did come from the uk |
No the dog that got BOB is from a greece prefix, if you look on the video posted by grete for BIG (Pastoral Breeds) they mention that also the exhibit is all the way from greece. Limping are you reffering to her? or the Dog BOS ? Both are lovely movers or are you referring to your class or something? The BOB, BIG 4, must of been moving perfectly to go on from breed level and be judged at group level and take out BIG4. Yes both the bitch and dog CC winnners are not UK dogs. One might live there with not the breeder, but born and bred elsewhere. Comment........... when you have been in the breed longer on judging or particular judges, Nita puts is perfectly and has the correct attitude to showing, another day another dog show" If you dont have that well we tried this one and did not agree with the results but Hey, each have there differing opinions wether we agree with that or not, onto the next show/judge etc. Comments on the WWW is not healthy. Thoughts should be kept not online, between yourself and whoever after the event. A bitch session is good between friends after the event, not expressed on the WWW. We have all over the years agreed with a judges decision and questioned others on there decisions, but in our minds not over the net and yes bitched about decisions in private, but that should be kept holey and soley amongst yourself, confidents and not posted on the net. |

Actually for what it's worth I think it is good that oppinions are shared and shown on the WWW - we don't have to be nasty to have an opinion that isn't the same as anothers. There are lots of folk like me - who have never shown a dog or been to a dog show so it is good to have a feel for that and also get different perspectives from different folk. It is healthy to disagree sometimes. Take 5 have a cuppa and Love your dogs ! We can't all know everything about the breed standards looked for or have beauty queens some dogs are just little horrors like mine! All mischief and no sence of direction! Oes - |
Opinions are one thing. They can be very good. The people being slammed here are breeders and exhibitors that have been in the sport for many years. New people can either make friends with them or have themselves singled out for the things they say. Worse yet, judges can see these comments and it makes them appear as if they don't know what they are doing. They may remember this the next time you step into the ring yourself. There are more subtle ways of expressing your disappointment in the judges choice of winners than this thread started out with. There's a lot to learn at the beginners level of dog showing. I've been there for about seven years now and still would never voice such a negative opinion about a judge's decision on line. Since I'm getting back into showing after a few years off, the more people I have on my side the better! |
Well I wont be in a ring anytime soon. I think my wee man is not going to make the grade - or the breeder we had would not of let him go for sure! Most folk on here don't give their real names anyhow so I guess most judges woudn't know who was saying what. I just don't think it is the place for a battle field! - I hope that if I ever do decide to show it will be because it is great fun for me and my dog. Personally if my Dog won anything I would be over the moon. As I said I have never shown and never even been to a show. For me it is just lovely to see the dogs on TV and hope the OES wins ( Whoever owns it or whatever it is like I just want one to win!) I think most Judges are thick skinned anyhow and probably more professional than to take notice of someones remarks on an obscure thread. I guess if someone doen't personally feel comfortable with voicing an opinion on the Web then I guess best thing for them is not too. Thankfully I don;t know any judges and I wouldn't even try to understand what is a good enough dog! I live in blistful ignorance - however my lovely Breeder Colm Hastings of Cork Ireland did once phone to ask if I might like to go to a show one day. - so watch this space Bailey could yet turn into a prince! ( Probably more likely to turn into a frog though!) He was looking wonderful after a bath and lots of brushing and he got his feet trimmed - only then - he went to the yard and decided to eat pooooooooooo - see it simply is not going to work! OES |
I don't think you get it. I thought the judge was not the best or the worst and the the dog section winner was a wonderful dog and all the dogs were great and we all cannot win. So you tell me how do you solve a judging issue. All the the people who show pay there money and should have a fair crack at the whip. Dogs have good days and bad ones and I think that might just make the difference on the day. There is a breed standard and should the judge follow that first. Yes judges do like some small or large dogs. I have had lots of good advice from judges and have taking it on board and people who have been showing for years have helped us so much. I would think if you gave georgi to someone who has been showing for years she would do a lot better. |
Also I forgot to add in it not just the OESD group have this issue and would say most. |
Away from my little rant about said judge. The numbers were good also more people watching . Very impressed with the grooming and was watching some of the people and its good to see so many sheep dogs in full coat. This year seem a lot more busy than last year so did not get too see other things going on. The winner of the whole group was a wonderful looking dog and the German Shepard was nice as well. I think if the numbers are up on the OESD they should give us a larger ring. The best thing would be one of you guys from USA/Canada and Australia to come and show |
I would love to go to crufts just to see it and experience the attmosphere - I don;t think I would like to show a dog though? My grooming usually ends with a frustrated trip to get the shaver out! Oes |
