I told the Dr. at the last visit that I would be very nervous to do this. She gave me some Diazepam for anxiety. It helped me to actually walk in and have this done. Dh came along for support. Shoes and socks came off and Dr. came in. She explained what she would do. I grabbed dh's hand and the ordeal began. She sprayed some really cold stuff of my toe and the needle went in...three times. I told her not to be surprised if I cry. Yes I'm a big baby. She told me to keep breathing and imagine I was someplace else. In between the ouch's, I was telling her about the beach I was at. She and dh expanded on my sandy beach with nice breezes and the hunky 25yo bringing me a nice frosty drink She surprised me. After the first toe shots she sat back and took some deep breaths of her own. She told me she hates to give the shots and cause pain. The back of the "chair" was back so I couldn't see what she was doing. My choice. As I mangled dh's hand, she cut out the offending pieces. She told me I had a lot of scar tissue from the ingrown nails and she took care of that too. The worst part was the shots. I've taken my first pain pills and boy did I need it. Simon helped out by stepping of my toe For the next TWO weeks I have to soak my toes twice a day and take abx... and dh will recover from my mangling his hand. Oh, and I didn't cry. |

Good news!!! Seriously, what is with these dogs??? I have had it done twice, and Chewie steps on it both times. Bad enough to make it start rebleeding!! I'm glad you made it through it, and hoping Randy's hand recovers too |
Glad it is over!! Hope the meds keep you happy. Remember to drink plenty of liquids......even though it means more "walking" to and fro. |
Glad the worst is behind you! Take it easy and keep the toe away from the big hairy paws! |
Well done!! You're dead right it's the toe shots that are the killer. Tiggy is terror for stepping on my toes all the time. She's taken chunks out of the top of my big toes when she's lept up and used my foot as a launching pad and I've had bare feet. A couple of times she's really, really hurt my foot and I hadn't just had a surgical procedure, so try and avoid the big foot in your house. |
Glad to hear the part you were dreading is over! Heal fast and watch those toes for a while! Cindy |
Glad to hear the dreaded toenail is gone and you are on the road to recovery. |
Well Done Pam!! So happy that you can say "its over" and that you DID NOT cry! You deserve lots of TLC even if Randy is one handed Speedy healing |
Happy to hear the dreaded surgery is over. Cross fingers that sheepies feet don't find your toe to often. You have a good husband that supported you. I hope you now heal quickly and feel better soon. |
I am so glad that is over for you. Now that you have totally freaked me out, though, how does one make sure that this doesn't happen in the first place or is it one of those dreaded conditions that afflict people for no apparent reason? |
