Kennel cough ?. |
I am hoping that is not it. |
Kennel cough (Bordatella) isn't known for sneezes. It's tracheal oriented, not nasal. You can elicit the cough by doing trachea pressure or manipulation - that is usually how it's diagnosed. They have a very distinctive cough - like something is caught in the back of their mouth or throat and they are trying to get it out. They can vomit from coughing so hard. I would suspect something from the grooming (foreign particle inhaled into the nasal sinuses) or some seasonal allergy setting him off. Hope he's feeling better soon. |
I took him in, it was tie for Dex's annual visit so now they are on the same schedule. He has bronchitis probably brought on by seasonal allergies. The visit to the groomer was coincidental. Our vet avoids antibiotics so suggested 2 benadryl twice a day and a smear of Vicks on his nose for 5 days. If it isn't cleared up by then he will go to antibiotics. Now we know Winston is miserable in the spring right along with us! |
