I'm just going to grab a name off Jasper's pedigree and use it as an example...hope that's okay. CH HEATHERMIST AMOS BARCLAY DL42249710 (12-83) OFA24E GR&WH Obvious the GR & WH is the color & I'm guessing the DL # is the AKC # (that's what Sampson's # started with). What's the others though? - Kinda interesting...I was browsing & I found out this sire is also grandfather to Ch Heathermsit English Muffin who was an entry to the 2005 Westminster. I thought it was neat that Jasper had a cousin (?) there anyway. |

So I guess OFA24E means he was certified at 24 months and his hips were excellent. Now I'm just wondering what the (12-83) is. I thought it might be date of birth, but I guess not! |
Okay, after some more research, here are your answers. (Actually thanks for the question because I learned a lot from looking into it!!!!! )
From the AKC website: The date shown in parentheses after a dog's registration number is the month and year of the issue of the AKC Stud Book Register in which the dog's first breeding experience is recorded. Also, here is a link to the AKC's "How to read the Pedigree" site: http://www.akc.org/reg/certificate.cfm |
