Had to Labs before & no issues but Georgie is a bit of a will be bouncing of the walls & doing her tigger dance & wants to play. Bit worried that she will squash the puppy nd on the flip side said puppy taking out Georgi coat. Any advice You can send the puppy to me...? Sorry, not helpful. |
The puppy will most likely take her coat out. Or at least try. That's just what puppies do. Odds are she will recognize the puppy for what he is (a baby) and surprise you with her gentleness (relatively speaking) At least until his puppy license runs out Then there was my butt crazy rescue dog whom I worried about who actually turned out to be afraid of the puppies Kristine |
It was amazing for us to see how agile and careful the big girls were around Gracie when she was small. Virginia I expected, given that she is Gracie's mum, but Mady had never had puppies and was wonderfully gentle with her little sister. She would hop around and I was sure she would land on Gracie but never did. Of course, Gracie's puppy license has expired and it is like the World Wrestling Federation in my backyard nowadays. As for the coat, well, my big girls are wrecking Gracie's head coat and I despair about it. We try to stop it, but it is awful. I don't want Gracie to not get to play with her mum and sister so, like you, am open to suggestions. They will stop the second I say 'ease up' but it only takes a second to grab a mouthful of coat. I have been tempted to put a tshirt on Gracie when she plays. |
When Chewie was a puppy, we had 2 other young dogs who had to be trained not to pull his hair and grab his topknot as a handle Nearly 6 yrs later, Bond comes along and the gang is still all trained. However, Bond still loves to suck and slime Chewie up when playing (he's 16 months old now). He doesn't pull coat out however, he just gets all him all spit slimed up and makes mats if I don't get it out right away. Last year was the year I regrew Chewie's coat out so my granddaughter could show him in Jr's at Nationals...it was a PAIN! |
How exciting for you We just recently exposed(quite cautiously) Charm to a ten week old puppy next door. Charm is Miss Over the Top, party ready to happen, kind of girl. I was more than a little anxious, but allowed her to proceed unleashed. So who was that girl who eased up to little puppy, sniffed gently, licked the ear, and then ran off to play with the neighborhood boys??? Charm always makes me proud So like everyone else, your puppy will be just fine and so will Georgi But, the stories are going to be so much fun, can't wait to hear |
Mady and Virginia were super gentle around Gracie when she was a tiny wee thing. Even when they were playing really rough. Teaching Gracie puppy play bows... OMG that was just over a year ago... *sniff* I think, um, I think I have some dirt in my eye... |
Isn't it shocking how quickly they grow up? Kristine |
