Oh no my pudgy boy!

I took Langley in to get his lump checked again 3 times as much fluid removed nothing wrong but we think it should be removed it will not go away and will just get bigger. But this isn't what horrified me it was his weight!!!!!!!! Laika who is the bigger dog & older dog weighs a healthy 78 lbs. Langley is a hefty 85.4 lbs!!!! Well my poor pudgy boy is now on a diet and I am upping his exercise. Funny enough he gets extra exercise than Laika already. Somebody has a slower metabolism I guess.

As they get older they tend to put on a few pounds. It may seem like he's as active, but he may not be. More veggies for him. 85 is a bit chunky.
Don't forget boys have more muscle than girls and muscle weighs more. Also Langley has bigger bones than Laika I would think.... I wouldn't go by the number, just his overall body condition. If you can find his ribs without digging for them he's probably just fine. Willy weighs more and is a lean dog, he's a bigger dog overall though but still.... he's 95 -100 and lean. He's got big bones an solid muscle.
Thanks Stacey, he is bigger boned. But he could stand to lose 5 lbs. His ribs aren't easy to find like Laika's. He loves food and I have to drag him on walks sometimes. If he was a person he be eating bon bons on the sofa all day. More exercise is needed.
Good luck exercising, Mr Bon Bon :D

I can just picture him lounging around eating beef flavoured bon bons!! :hearts:
My Oliver is a BIG male. Last year at one point, he weighed 123lbs. I did get him down to 109 in aprx. 6 weeks. I gave him some fruits and veggies, and switched some of his treats to spoon size shredded wheat. He loves the shredded wheat. He is healthy and happy. :hearts: :hearts: That's the most important thing. I also will use the excuse, 'we retain fluids'.
