Abbey has food aggression and most of the time at the expense of Dublin, so they are never fed or treated together. I have been playing phone tag with Barkbusters for about two weeks, mostly because of my work schedule. We are looking for in-home training. If any one has any comments about them, please post. |
They are expensive. We used them and they thought our dog was one of the most stubborn they had. I told them it was a problem I was having forrrrrrrever with constant efforts to curve the pulling/barking too. I liked them and would recommend them. ...but now I feel I just use this board when I have a training problem. Everyone here just tells me what they did, so sometimes I feel robbed. |
I ended up going with a different training person/ program. I really liked the person from Bark Busters that I talked to on the phone but was worried that the program would not meet our specific needs. Our trainer came to our house and showed us some things and has been making special videos for us to use as the training progresses. Our dog is deaf so she remade her videos specifically for us. I am going to post the links to the videos in another thread incase anyone else needs to train a deaf dog, they may help. |
Our Trainer had us do a rather simple routine which has proven to be absolutely outstanding. While your dog is eating gently touch him or her. Each time you touch give them a treat like a small piece of cheese or chicken. Do this a few times every time they eat. Gradually make the gentle touch a little more firmer and continue to give the reward or treat. Eventually you will be able to pet them and they will not even notice you. Within 2 days I was able to take anything out of Bailee's bowl or add anything to his bowl and he has NEVER shown any signs of aggression. |
