Floyd has become nippy on the leash

I used to own a beagle, and unfortunately we did a very poor job of socializing him when he was young, which thus led to him being terrified of other dogs. So when I got Floyd Boy, we immediately started introducing him to other friendly dogs to properly socialize him. Once he was old enough, we started taking him to dog parks. At first he was perfect, just running around and trying to play with as many dogs as possible. Then as he started getting older, he started acting more like a bully than anything. He wouldn't pay any attention to the bigger dogs, but would instead look for the shy dogs and bark at them and try to get them to play. And if any dogs would start sprinting, he would quickly show them why he was a sheepdog, and would nip and herd them. So we decided he had to much energy for dog parks, and we decided to have him expunge his energy in other parks without other dogs.

But now he was started becoming nippy when on the leash. The problem is he is too damn cute!! Whenever we are walking him, other dog owners with their dogs will attempt to approach us. They assume that because he is so cute, he couldn't possibly do anything wrong. He will approach the other dog just fine and they exchange the smelling of the noses, but then with in 10-15 seconds he will launch and nip at their faces. Its not necessarily an aggressive nip, but being that their heads and mouths are so big, they usually tend to scare the owner and the other dog.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this type of situation. I don't want to have the dog that cannot meet others while on the leash.

Check with use of the leash, redirect his focus on you a "NO" and a hand bite to his neck like his mum would do (with her teeth but you pretend with your hand), every time he does something like this stop all play stop his fun and get his attention - get it into his brain you do not like this and will not accept it, just just need to snap his focus not hurt him.

Try to read what signals the other dogs are giving off to.

Contact your breeder and ask their advice.

Is he getting any formal social training?
I have to be careful with Simon so he does not meet other dogs face to face. That makes him nippy...and he's six.

Dogs say hello to each other by sniffing their privates...kind of like shaking hands for us. Face to face is kinda rude.

Langley is extremely rude. He face to face and pokes and moves back pokes and moves back. Very silly but very naughty.
