I think this is direct? I'm not sure, we'll give it a try.
Old English Sheepdog
Watched the sheepie and the the beginning of the newf. OMG
It's a rescue centric site. Listen to the mixed breed dog "talk" and you'll figure out why they don't bother to remotely get the purebred traits right (OES - heavy shedding? 100 pounds? brown and white?) and make them sound like morons  No point in promoting what most people aren't going to be able to find anyway. Sneaky. :-)

Oh the poor Newf. Duh!

Oh and he sheds moderate. Hmm someone didn't do their homework.
I was doing the sliders, yes to grooming, yes to lots of exercise etc, but when I slid the "how many other pets will I be living with?" over to a few, the OES was deselected. It's hosted by Purina, they should know better.
I agree, they seem to be pushing mixed breed over pure breds. Doing the sliders kicked us into mixed breed very early. They are way over on the breed size for OES, Newf, St.B, Pyrs.....the big guys are just being listed at too big.
Mixed breed snobbery is the current trend, I encounter it far too often at Bruce Pit, the big dog park in Ottawa.

I'm not a sheepdog snob. My dogs are objectively better, it's just simple fact. 8)
According to the site the husky is only a moderate shedder vs the oes who is a heavy shedder...LMAO!

I did the slider and got a mutt right away too.
OMG it is rigged!

I clicked on Search Old English Sheepdogs to adopt. Nationwide serch for oes, comes up with quite a few interesting mixes, including an oes horse.

I also disagree with the shearing and spinning the hair. Cut/shorn hair has a very sharp end that does not spin well or knit/weave into a nice fabric. Talk about itchy hair shirt! The best stuff and I suggest the only stuff for spinning is the brushings.

As to the other petcentric listings, the Great Pyr is close, the Great Dane is wrong......I agree, I think Buster the Newf needs an apology from petcentric.

I didn't care for the PBGV at all, too much time spent on the name. Ridgebacks was....ok. As for the mixed breed, I only listened to the first of the 3 recordings. I was put off immediately when they said they get mostly the good traits of a mixed breeding, not the bad......did they confuse recessive genes vs unacceptable traits?

OES x Horse?
Moved just the allergy slider to "YES" and it left me with these choices:

Affenpinscher
German Spitz Klein & Mittel
Tibetan Mastiff, and...
Mixed Breed

:lmt:
Good to know that a "Mixed Breed" is the best choice for me if I have no room for the dog to play outside, have no time to exercise it, and it will be alone most of the day, oh yeah, that will be a GREAT dog!....

This site is beyond idiotic.

Okay I was amused by some of them, Buster can be bit like the dog portraying him and OES are exuberant, exuberant, exuberant.

They have got some of the personality traits right on some of the dogs and it is just a generalization of the breeds so of course all our dogs will have much more character and not totally match their description.

I don't take the website seriously more for amusement. I like the English Setter, springer spaniel and from the Golden retrievers I have met in the park their personality seems close.

I haven't tried the sliders yet.
The Airedale sounded...."challenged".

The Samoyed has a NYC accent. Why?
Tried the sliders and they are definitely biased to a mix breed. The perfect dog right?
LAUREL!!!

How have you been???
Too funny! The Pharaoh Hound's voice is very similar to Pee Wee Herman's.
