slightly off-topic but my poor kitty just died of VAS (vaccine associated sarcoma). . . |
Yes I had a cat that had to be put to sleep because of that too. It is FAR more common in cats than in dogs. Dogs often get lumps but they don't as often turn cancerous. |
Sorry to hear about your cat. It is one of those things that my vet would mention in passing before giving the vaccine. I never really thought it would happen. It is an awful disease. Glad to hear it is less prevalent in dogs. |
Not too many votes..... should I add more options to the poll? |
I voted the first choice but the lumps always went away within 48 hours. I haven't noticed any lumps on Jasper after his shots. |
Fortunately no lumps have been on the dogs after they've been vaccinated. However, our holistic vet recommeds that we give the rabies vaccination at a different time (about a month apart) from the other vaccinations - mainly because the rabies vaccine depresses the immune system so much. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Vaccinations on the cats are a different matter. Several of the cats get lumps at the vaccination spot that last for up to a week! Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Sharkey |
