A coupel weeks ago we discovered it is Dexter! Shortly after we put one in Dexter will pull it out! We would find them on the floor or in the yard for a while then stopped finding them. Detxer pulls them out then eats them! We haven't noticed any in his poop so he is either stockpiling them in his system or digestng them. (he poops regularly and it seems fine). Dexter won't bother with a berrette but they don't stay in near as well. |

I found clip Barrett's that work really well. They are called STAYPUT by Goody. They clip the hair in place instead of slide in. I got them from London Drugs in Canada but I found a link on Amazon so you can see what the Barrett's looks like: http://www.amazon.com/Goody-Oval-Stayput-Barrette-3-Pack/dp/B004R7MH0S/ref=sr_1_4?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1357524891&sr=1-4&keywords=stayput+barrette Here is Monty with them in. He looses rubber bands in bushes but not the Barrett's: |
Be grateful. I'm sure Luna would eat any and all barrettes We have a top knot staying in problem around here too. I put them in, little girls go out to play together, miraculously, elastics gone, poof. Hopeless... Kristine |
I tried those clips when Bond was little - no luck. A couple hard head shakes and they popped out. Then one went missing, and I was afraid he ate it. Not going to risk that! As he grew, and coat came in, they just are too small to hold enough hair and keep it out of the eyes. Maybe for some dogs, with less hair... Just had to throw this picture in - this was this weekend, Bond ready to go in the show ring - |
There's no way we could do barrettes either. Our dog would have them out in minutes. The only thing that works for Yuki who is very persistent about getting them out and ruining her nice knot ...is to make 'em tighter, put two on, and have two-three rows on top of her head. Never had a problem... of course I tell her to stop when i see her trying to rub them of on the carpet, but I'm always proud of the up-do when she gets up... and they're still in her hair. |
We've tried like six different kinds of clips, the Goody barrettes mentioned above, (I even went to the extreme of adding some 180 grit self-addhesed sand paper to the inside side of them to add extra staying power but Caitlyn can still shake them loose )The most success we've had was to put in a triple top knot as suggested by Marilyn. That works for MUCH longer than anything else, but she can still shake those out given time. The longest we've had out of a triple is almost three days! We'll stick with this method. Vance |
