Frankie hasn't been into eating lately

Does a dog grow tired of its food?
The last few days Frankie hadn't wanted to eat his meals. Treats are not a problem. We don't feed human food to them and I don't want to start.
The last few days he would eat eventually. This morning he ate just a little. Someone vomited yesterday. I came home to a surprise. Just bile.
No other tummy issues. Pooping fine.
Any suggestions?

Hasn't he had other problems lately........new meds? Could be the problem. Since it's been going on a while, bloat not likely, but he could have tummy issues. Worth a vet visit...since it could be a myriad of possibilities. If tummy, vet might recommend Pepcid AC . Yes, a change to a milder diet might help.
Couple of thoughts. Oscar is a chow hound, and when he refuses breakfast, I know we are in for an IBD flare-up or pancreatitis. But in either of those scenarios, he has diarrhea AND vomiting, never just vomiting.

What new meds is he taking? Anti-inflammatories like Rimadyl often cause stomach upset or even ulcers, so if he has recently taken something like that, I would start giving famotidine as Susan suggested (Pepcid AC, tablets, not chewables) to coat the tummy. Oscar takes 40 mg per day each morning, and has for most of his life. Every time I try to wean him off, we have tummy troubles. So 40 mg it is!!!!

The bile could be a symptom of a problem, or simply a result of having an empty stomach. (Oscar used to be fed his last meal at 5 pm, and them not get fed again until 5 am. He started vomiting bile in the middle of the night/early morning. My vet said his tummy was too empty for too long, and the bile collected with nothing to digest, so he had to get rid of it. Blech. We started adding a small meal at 9 pm, and we haven't had that problem in five years.)

Keep us posted.

Forgot to mention one thing. Maybe something in the food isn't right. I know when dogs were getting sick from bad dog food, they often wouldn't eat it.

Does Frankie eat kibble, or canned food? If he eats kibble, you might want to see if they have a canned version of his food, and try that. Often, the canned is more tempting. We switched Oscar to canned food after a bad bout of pancreatitis, and now he eats that, with a little kibble for treats.

Just a few more thoughts.....

How is Frankie doing?

Laurie
MO is my Pepcid AC girl, also 40 mg.......2, 20mgs per day. Yes, I use the generic. Also she cannot go long between meals now, she eats 3 small meals a day and a before bed snack for the last of her meds. Meal #3 is part of my dinner, often lean protein and plain potato or rice if available. She adores potatoes, white and sweet.

Hope Frankie is doing better.
Frankie hasn't been sick today.
He didn't eat his breakfast. He finally ate this afternoon for the dog walker.
I decided to switch foods today. So after scattering some of his new kibble in his bowl, he decide to eat his dinner.

I also started to half his thyroid meds. 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm. Maybe that will help.

Thank you for your suggestions, and your kind words.
Hopefully things will be looking up for Frankie.
