Merlin's new sister....
we were supposed to go pick her up tomorrow, but her breeder called us this afternoon, the lady giving her up came early to the breeders house and my husband said can we come NOW?!! 
We didnt bring Merlin as he HATES the car. (one of the remaining traumas he faces due to his getting lost a year ago) When we got home, the 'girls' were dropped off at the park and the 'boys' went home to get Merlin. We thought the first meeting should be on neutral ground. Merlin sniffed Avalon and then didnt really seem interested in her. After being home for a few hours...he is afraid of her. What a ninny!  We are ignoring his silly behaviour as not to validate it. Avalon hasnt really even been bothering Merlin... she seems to sense he is afraid. I have given him some Bach's 5 Flower essence to take the 'edge' off. We will see if this will help.
Little Avalon is 14 weeks old. She is a cutie. A bit nippy with the kids but they know how to handle it. She will learn soon this is not a good thing to do. Right now she is sleeping in her crate, she fussed for about 30 seconds going into it and then realized hey its ok being in here and layed down. I will post pics as soon as I can take some and get them developed (my digital doesnt work with my computer  |

Sounds good so far! I hope Merlin gets over being afraid of her and decides to play... then you will have your hands full, but it's worth it!

| Congrats on your new baby. Avalon sounds a wonderful little lady and I hope that she and Merlin get along famously. I look forward to seeing her pics, so please get snapping and post them.

Merlin is getting on better than I expected with Avalon. He still needs the 5 Flower Essence, but yesterday he was actually running up to her at the park to get her to chase him. At home he is not as interested in her, especially when she has her nipping spells! Today I did a stupid thing  , he went into his crate and I reached in to get him out and he growled and snapped at me. He has NEVER done this before and I KNOW better than to do what I did. Of course I reprimanded him and told him to NEVER do that again. As soon as he growled he realized what he had done and was very apologetic. Today both of us learned a lesson.
Avalon slept thru the night last night. Merlin sleeps next to her crate. So she can't be all THAT bad in his mind, can she? |
