This is weird... We had our therapy dog chapter's Christmas party last Monday, and we do a gift exchange. Todd and I each brought a gift bag, so we each got one to take home. Well, in one of them is a pump bottle of the EXACT same Salmon Oil! I don't know if it's good, but my dogs are getting it on their food every morning . |
From: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/silicon- ... -food.html Health Benefits of Silicon Dioxide Silicon is an indispensable part of the food that we eat daily. It is observed that silicon plays a significant role in the development of bones, so it becomes necessary to include silicon food sources in our diet. In order to maintain healthy strong bones and joints, silicon dioxide in foods is very much essential. Deficiency of silicon can cause osteoarthritis and arthritis. Animal studies on rats have also clearly indicated that diet lacking in silicon can have a negative impact on bone formation and tooth structure. Another important health benefit of silicon is that it minimizes aluminum effects on the body, thereby preventing Alzheimer's disease. Silicon supports joint function and also plays a crucial role for maintaining healthy skin. Read more at Buzzle: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/silicon- ... -food.html |
We use the brand name Grizzly Salmon Oil.....the dogs love it! I give it full credit for healing MO's snout which had open oozing wound from sun damage (yes, I thought it was cancer). Vet suggested omegas 3 and 6s and the oil was the best formula we could find locally. She also recommended niacinimide......not niacin. Down side.....their kisses really stink! |
Dx, Winston and I all take the same fish oil, Costco brand. They consider them a treat. |
I normally use the store brand fish oil caps too - but this stuff was a gift, so we are using it. I do say, they have more odor from the liquid getting on their face hairs than they did with the capsules. Mine just eat the capsules like a treat (off the top of their dog food) too. I personally haven't jumped on the fish oil wagon yet....just remembering my multi-vit and a low dose aspirin are enough most days |
