Now on days when its hot and humid, our gentleman won't budge to go out for the "gents" and short walk. When he finally goes out for the walk, he returns up the stairs with a " I can't wait to bask in the coolness of the air conditioner" expression on his face. Presently he is lying down flat as a pancake with the cool waves of air flowing over him.... Solid comfort!! Does anyone else have a bobtail who is in love with the air conditioner?? |

Oh boy do my guys love the AC!
I took a nap the other day (I rarely do), both dogs came up on the bed, no sniping no clowning around and quietly took a nap with me, with the AC blowing over us. Of course, after they both got on the bed and began smothering me, and each other, I had to turn the air up just because they made it so much hotter. Looks like it will be cooler today, thank goodness. I am giving the AC a day off. It is really gorgeous outside right now. What am I doing inside? I think I'll take my coffee outside and read for a while! Shellie |
Ah yes. We have central air conditioning and Baxter loves it. When he sees me going to turn on the air conditioning, he heads straight for his favorite floor vent. Then he positions himself carefully either placing his stomach directly over the vent for the cool air to flow over it or settling himself so the his paws are over the vent and the cool air flows over his nose. Of course, this does make it so that WE don't get any cool air from that particular vent - fortunately there are other vents in the house.
Baxter has also figured out how to turn on the fan (the fan has push buttons). If he is hot and I haven't turned on the air conditioning, he will go paw at the fan until it turns on. Then he places himself in the proper location to take advantage of the maximum air flow. Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Sharkey |
Wow! Very smart Baxter!
My guys open doors and make huge messes with garbage and whatnot, and have even been known to get things off the top of the refrigerator by climbing onto the washer. But never have they intentionally turned on an appliance! Wow. I am impressed. Shellie |
Panda lays right in front of the cold air return. It must be 65 degrees in front of the return, but she loves it... we just have to replace the filter more often because it sucks her hair into it...... |
Until just yesterday we have had 90 degree temps and 66 dewpoint, IT"S BEEN MISERABLE. We have window AC with a couple fans about the house to keep the air moving. Tasker lays directly in front of the fan (defeating the whole purpose of the fan for the rest of us ) and refuses to budge. He doesn't want to go out in the heat and when he does, barely hangs his butt of the porch to pee. The other day I realized that it was time to got to bed and he hadn't been out since he got up in the morning. I literally had to pick his butt up and shove it towards the door.
Thanks goodness we are now in the midst of a cold front and he seems to be a bit livelier! |
Clyde and Lucy have both laid claim to their own vents. Clyde gets the kitchen, Lucy gets the one by the stairs! |
I thought I was the only one. my air goes on in April and off in October. I use the budget plan so I don't have a stroke when the bill arrives. |
Both of the sheepies I've known feel the same way as Tasker - when I try to take Bailey out on hot days he'll stick his nose out the door give me his "No way! I'll hold it until sundown!" look, and scoot back in the door. If he really, really has to go he'll stay in the shade - west side of the house in the morning, east side of the house in the afternoon. |
My aussie Maggie Mae was also a vent hog. When we bought our new house, it was much to her dismay, as the vents were in the ceiling instead of the floor. Guess that is one way to make them share the air.
Pud's favorite place is right inside the front door on the cool vinyl floor, and there is a vent that blows in that direction. Not sure if he likes it because it is cool or if he just wants to make sure no one sneaks in or out without getting sheepie kisses. |
We've only had a few days where I needed to turn the A/C on, but Max quickly positioned himself over the vent and just loved the cold air. At least now he knows the vents serve a purpose, he likes to use his paws and teeth to pull vents out of the floor
