Should I come back from lunch with a Nook? I love to read and the public library is a mile from my house. And I hate to fuss with stuff. But I'm jonesing! |

Did you know you can download books from the Library? Post places and devices allow this. |
Yes. While both DH and I have different e-readers, just having one is such a joy. I love the feature, when I finish a book, just order up another or down load from library. No getting up, finding car keys, etc. Very convenient at midnight. |
Spoil yourself, you deserve it. |
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2412415,00.asp I would be very tempted myself! |
I don't have a Nook, I have a Kindle and I love it!!! No more books cluttering up the house, gathering dust. No more money buying books that you just read once(or twice). Go on a trip and just pack a slim little "book" for the plane, car, sitting on a patio or beach. For me the added bonus is Simon reads(chews) books. |
It's mine! My lunch date didn't show so I went to B&N. Bought a few Christmas presents too. I'm sure I'll spend the weekend fussing with it. And now I need a case. Didn't Judi needlepoint a sheepie case for her e-reader? |
DH still doesn't know the ins and outs of the e-reader but has figured out how to download books. Not a lot of fussing, but good to know all the wonderful things they will do even though I don't use most of them. |
Congrats! I have a Kindle and love it. Great for taking places - just download several books, and just pack one slim "book" and you are good to go. My daughters have each - LeAnne has a Nook, and Lisa has a Kindle. We all love them |
And it's going back. I can't connect it to my home Wi-Fi. Spent last night on the phone with AT&T customer service. They would have to send me a new modem and reconfigure my computer because my Wi-Fi password doesn't work. Nope, that ain't happening. Plus I don't want to buy books. I have a list of about 30 books to get from the library. Checked the catalog--ONE was available as an e-book. And these are recent books, published within the last year. Decided to get a Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie. Nope, all copies checked out. Spent time on "free ebooks" sites like Open Library. Crap books, just scanned from the originals. It's just not the tool for me. |
Sorry it didn't work out. I don't have wi-fi so just using the area cell phone reception. No, rarely do I get a good freebie, have once in awhile though. Not the NY Best sellers! Also belong to Amazon Prime and get a free loaner book per month. Short of War and Peace, I polish off the loaner in a day or so. Since you are not into buying books, then the reduced price for e-books wouldn't suit you either, sorry. |
Our department at work "adopted" a family for Christmas. On their list was a Christmas tree and I said I would buy it. So this morning I got a tree (artificial with lights) that is the cost of the Nook. I'll be even Steven when I return the Nook plus I'll feel better since I did something for someone else. |
Our library is a lot better about having good ebooks I guess, we have all kinds of new books available all the time. I still like the feel of a book in my hand though, but it's great for people who don't have much time to go out to the library. |
Sorry it didn't work out. I get a ton of books from our library system - also daughter Lisa clued me into the free books on TUEBL! You need to download Calibre (a ebook - to reader converter) to get it on the Kindle or Nook - but another option for finding free books. |
