Once again the "blue screen of death" with a message that makes no sense. Call Comcast but since we only watch in evening, Customer (dis) Service is other side of International Date Line....sorry Mim. Poor DH with hearing aids has no chance with the foreign accents. So I'm left to listen to the garbage while waiting "just 20 minutes" for the next rep. After all the button pusing and assuring them the TV is plugged in (we aren't stupid...and were just watching the darn thing...grrrr) we are told a tech will come between 9-Noon next day. At 11:45 I call Comcast, "Is the tech coming?" Where upon I'm snarled at, "He'll be there exactly at Noon." No rep at Noon or 1 or 2. Call again at 2:30 and this time told we have no appointment! What??? We did when we called at 11:45. "The tech called and you did not answer your phone so he canceled the appointment." BS! The phone never rang nor was it used. In fact DH has spent the whole friggin' day sitting next to the phone. OK, I want to vent on Comcast Blog site. "just hit register at top of any page." There ain't no "register" on any page. Write a note to customer service via email, except my note doesn't fit their format and would be dumped immediately. I'd go Dish but people around me curse them more. Me, I don't care, I rarely watch TV, but DH is grumpy. And I'm grumpy because he's grumpy, but I'm grumpier because he gave me his cold and I'm sneezing and sniffing and my head hurt. OK, I'm OK, thank you for listening |

Ok, now I'M grumpy! Hope you get it back soon. Hate being w/o TV, hate dealing with service people. Kristine |
Oh my Gaaaawd... I had the same thing happen to me. IT REALLLY is no different no matter what you get ...and I don't care what folks say. EVERY company I can think of has the same amount of horror stories. People rave and rave about AT&T UVERSE... I have had it at 4 different homes now (apt included) and I have had horrrrrible things JUST like you described happen. It really sends me over the edge. I make sure I get some sort of compensation ...just so I can feel better about being screwed but in the end... it doesn't change anything. It will happen again ...and again. We had EXACTLY what you described happen to us THREE DAYS in a row... Imagine me with no tv and 4 kids and no furniture or toys in the house... Also happened when moving out (cut us a WEEK ahead of schedule), again at the apt... oh my gosh.. I seriously feel for you because I remember how pisssssssssssssed I was. PISSSEd. I called so many times and let NOTHING slide. PISSED... I'm someone who knows they are terrible and will BABYSIT EVERY step, recall after I hang up, everything... and still ...total suckage |
Time Warner did the same thing to my daughter when she was trying to get service. First they scheduled her for a Sunday (really???) and never showed. When she called, they said they never have Sunday appt, they had her down for Monday. My daughter said that's a lie since that is my first day of work at a new job. They wouldn't let her self-install like she did in San Francisco. Sad it was her only option. We have Dish at the lake and love it. But it is a small town and the service guy gave us his cell phone number in case of any problems. |
Well, no surprise, they missed the second appointment. I'd call except I'd get some Pakistani.......I want local people and local solutions! Jo........three days in a row!! DH is pissed because he's going to miss the opera tomorrow on PBS. I'm pissed because he's been sitting in the same chair all day long! Just waiting. |
We have Comcast too and I feel your pain. We had five appts last fall because every receiver failed after 6-12 hours. They couldn't give us newer equipment because " the whole area is being upgraded in January(2012). One receiver was right off the service truck apparently, because after a couple hours of use, ROACHES crawled out(we did get a free pest spray). And guess what, finally got a receiver to last, still using, and no upgrade mentioned this year! Huntington has a local office, and I was able to get better results from them after two trips. After the roaches, they were happy to do whatever. We have DISH at the lake, and no problem compared to Comcast. Can't get DISH at home due to foliage obstruction. I would be especially grumpy to lose the new network shows right now. |
What I can gather that this company is PANTS. You should try uverse. Out of 490 reviews they were are rate 1 star & would guess if you could rate them at zero they all would be zero. That's what you get when you outsource your service to tin pot places off shore |
some of the comments Pros: If you have no other choice you can get poor quality high speed internet. Cons: dreadful service, rude & uneducated service people, bad internet, poorly functioning reciever Summary: I have had comcast on a seasonal basis in Connecticut for 4 years now.Every year it is almost impossible to get a real person on the phone, and when i finally just hit "zero" and i do get a person, they are usually a moron. Pros: none other than they will all die one day Cons: horrible service, lying phone reps, lousy repair guys, creepy tech supervisor , outrageous prices Summary: Where to begin, well like an idiot i have been a loyal customer of the various companies that eventually turned into Comcast for 15 years. My biggest mistake was gettting the phone service added in one of their "bundle"package Pros: Pro:Comcast agent Gonzolo. He was quick in getting me a connection Cons: Cons:Charged for not working services. Summary: I have been with Comcast for the last six months and it has been a horrible experience so far. I had a package deal with TV and Internet with a bonus HBO channel for 3 months free. It all worked fine for the first couple of months. Comcast - zero integrity, zero ethics, liars and crooks (please read this!) Written: Jul 31 '10 * User Rating: Disappointing * Sound: * Picture Quality: * Basic Channel Selection: * Customer Service: Pros:Internet service is reliable, fast, and the best value, as far as price, in town. Cons:Picture on 3 favorite channels, including ESPN2, regularly jumbled. Comcast disclaimed responsibility for it. The Bottom Line: Bad service is one thing...but blatant dishonesty is entirely another. I truly hope consumers vote with their feet and leave Comcast high and dry. They deserve nothing less! CAN'T WAIT for Verizon! May 15 '12 Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Cons: TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, TERRIBLE COMPANY! Summary: We literally have NO OTHER CHOICE but Comcast where we live (Verizon is slowly making their way toward us), but the MOMENT we do we'll be switching. Comcast has TERRIBLE customer service |
Oh lovely, I'll watch for the roaches. This year was our first experience with them......after 32 years here. What changed? We went from septic to municiple sewer about 5 years ago. After missing the 5 pm appointment I contacted them via internet......at least that way I can understand the service rep.....and I couldn't hear him snarl! Finally after being shuttled to a service tech.....which I insisted from the start, he went ahead and made an appointment for Monday at 0700! And this time I got "written" guarantee......a piece of paper with the appointment and correct phone number/address. No excuses this time. Poor DH will miss his opera today on PBS, but he'll live. **** Now a question for all you techies........when typing here my keyboard types easily, freely. But when typing last night to Comcast the keys were slow and often skipped a letter......why the difference? OK, gotta to, I'm running late....... |
When you typed last night, was it on their website or did it open up your personal email program? Their website - they want you so frustrated that you stop complaining. Your personal email program - not sure. |

I walk in the door from church and there's DH watching the Met opera! The TV healed itself?? Guess it needed 36 hour vacation. Of course there's still a problem, but it's going to be one of those on-again/off-again buggers. I darn well better stay on because I've cancelled the 7 am appointment. |
Quote: When you typed last night, was it on their website or did it open up your personal email program? Probably that's the answer. The time lag is greater then typing in "messenger-real time" mode (I have no idea of the correct term) opposed to here or just a personal program. Just frustrating. I'm not a great typist anyway, but that made me want to hunt and peck. |
Well, being gone all weekend, catching up...GLAD to read the post about hubby watching his opera! All the people I know in MN who have Comcast HATE it. |
