Hudson is the first Old English Sheepdog in the USA to have earned his NW2 level K9 Nose Work title. Now we are working towards the NW3 level title, which is even more complex and involves searches in four different elements - interior, exterior, container and vehicle. The instructor placed the hidden odor on the vintage plane and Hudson had to locate it and clearly indicate to me where it was. Good boy, Hudson. Linda Z & Hudson |

Incredible!!!!!!!!!! And you are going to work on a nosework section for the OESCA website....when he earns his NW3? Kristine |
The NW3 test is coming up shortly. We "think" we might just be ready, but I am told it usually takes "at least" several attempts at the NW3 level to succeed, so we will take passing any of the four element tests as a success this time around. It's a learning experience just to trial at that level. I know one person in one of my nose work classes has already had nine attempts with no success and one of the top instructors in the country took nine tries to earn her NW3 title. So I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic and just have fun this time out. An added challenge at the trial will be I have either a stress fracture or tendon issue with my ankle, which isn't going to help if Hudson needs to trot (with me attached to the long lead line) around a huge exterior search area in search of the odor. Yes, I'll gladly work on something as a K9 Nose Work section for OESCA... just as soon as things aren't quite so busy. Maybe some time in the spring hahaha. Linda Z |
That's really neat that Hudson is working on his Nose Work titles. Is there anything a sheepie CAN'T do? |
