We are going to be a foster family!

I have been contacted by rescue to foster a dog who was found in deplorable conditions in PA. He has just been neutered and vetted etc.
I don't know much at this point, but, after much consideration, we have agreed to foster him.
I will share more info when I get it. We will be getting him this week.
I am nervous and excited and worried and excited and .....just trying to work out some details since we have never fostered before.
I look forward to everyone's input and advice as we bring this new OES into our lives!

:hearts: :yay: :hearts: :yay: FOSTERING!!!! :yay: :hearts: :yay: Of course, there is always the danger of falling in love and being a foster failure. That means you wind up keeping the animal. Ask me, I know. Just sayin............................. :) :) :) :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Just one tip:
Don't fall in love.
I'm excited for you. It will be a great experience.
You'll learn a lot and will leave your "footprint" forever on
the very lucky dog you've agreed to foster.

Very cool. I love being able to help a dog move on to a better life.
I hope you guys enjoy it as well!! Can't wait to hear and see more about him. :D
Thanks for stepping up and helping a dog in need. :hearts: Volunteers are what makes OES Rescues work!

Treat your foster as you would your own. Don't worry about falling in love. It's unusual when that doesn't happen. When the time comes to let a foster go, should the opportunity to adopt your foster present itself just ask "What is best for this dog?" It's easier to make the right decision.

Lots of us here foster dogs so feel free to ask any questions. Take it a day at a time and don't stress about it. You'll do great!
There is no better feeling than offering your home to a dog in need. Both Patch and Olive loved sharing their home with a new dog. If you decide to keep him or adopt him out, please know you have provided comfort and a loving place to live for a homeless animal. Good luck and thank you.
If it wasn't for a very patient foster family for Ru he likely would have been put to sleep before he was one year old because of all his "issues" and mistrust of humans as I watch him rolling around on the living room floor play wrestling with Leonard I am thankful for Karen who had Ru for months. She got him ready to live in a home and could tell me all about him when we got him. She also checked in for the first few months to see how he was doing and gave me somewhere to continue from with his long road of recovery. She did fall in love with him, she told me how much she loved him consequently put so much effort into giving him a second chance and making sure he worked out in his new home. Good luck! The dog is lucky to end up in a foster situation, like I say it saved Ru's life!
We will be picking him up on Thursday evening! I will give you all updates and pictures when I have him. From what I have heard, he is a sweetheart! I can't wait to meet him!
