I have moved the divider to various positions in the crate and he still manages to wake up a yellow mess. I have tried with and without a blanket. He doesn't seem to mind the crate b/c he has taken to taking several naps in there during the day. I am hoping (waiting) for him to grow out of it, but until then it's not too fun when I first open the crate in the AM only to have him jump on me in all his excitement! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but he may just not be able to make it through the night. Usually puppies can only hold their bladders for their age in months plus one (give or take an hour!). For 10 weeks, you're really only looking at around 3 hours or so. I know some people have great luck with their puppies making it overnight (lucky!) but Clyde never did either. We would set the alarm to get up and let him out during the night and gradually pushed the time longer and longer as he got older. It took him a long time too-- and many, many baths!
I do understand your frustration, but, don't worry, it'll get better. |
