Happy Veterans Day! |

We had a wonderful program at school today for all of the local veterans. There were about 1500 students and staff in the gym. The choir and band performed and the speaker was in the Army and his daughter is a student at the Junior High School. They had breakfast for all of the invited veterans and then they walked into the gym with everyone standing and clapping for them. All of the students were wonderful. I saw many people wiping away tears when they told of a young man who graduated from the high school many years ago and was shot down in combat. We had just had a recent graduate's funeral visitation at the school and all of the students who wanted to lined the street in front as the funeral procession went by. It was really a wonderful program with representatives from World War 2 through Afghanistan and everything in between. It really was a moving program. As people left they donated to the 'Honor Flight" program which sends veterans to Washington DC. They hope to raise enough money to send at least one veteran this year. Bonnie/Carley's Mom |
That sounds like a great program at your school! I add in my support. My dad served in the Korean War. Todd (and 5 of his 6 brothers) were in the military too. Thanks to those who actively serve and served our country! |
