OESCV Specialty

A big thank you to my home and international friends for their congratulations upon my young girl, Bojou Grand Siecle du Packardia (Imp NZ) (16 months), winning Best in Show at the Old English Sheepdog Club of Victoria’s Championship Show last Saturday under Shane Armstrong (Gateview OES).

Congratulations also to Fiona & Rob Zammit and Kerry and John McLean for taking out Runner Up Best in Show with Ch. Dezignerz Mr Ree. I am sure we will meet in the ring many, many times as we are both bringing dogs out from the US/Canada at the same time.

Thanks should also go to my good friend, Peter Stevens, for stepping in and running Gaby around for the BIS when I broke down with a ripped calf muscle in the Challenge bitch run off.

Thank you also to "Mim", a puppy person/friend of mine (owner of the well known Tiggy), for her expert advice re my injury. Not everyone has their own personal physiotherapist at a show out of hours, just in case!!!!!
Lorraine (who will probably show up as 'Itchy" - how do I get rid of this name??)

You have to post more often if you want to get rid of itchy. :D
The lovely Gaby!

I prefer to sit thanks.
Hopefully this post will help get rid of Itchy.
I must also ensure when I see Mim point a camera that I have brushed my dog into show coat. Gaby had just come out of the ring, having run a few circuits, had the judge run his hands all over her and she was about to be put on the crate to redo for challenge lineup. Her coat always goes into a bad hair day when she comes out of the ring. Mine was probably worse.
Also, Mim, how do I get to put some words into a box so you can see what I am answering?

There is a box in the lower right corner of the post that says "quote" - click on that, then type your reply :D
Congratulations, Lorraine!!!

And nice to have your own physical therapist on hand ;-) Hope you heal soon.

Yes, Kristine, Mim was great at the show and with her help stopped further injury. And we have a potential exhibiter here in a few years, eh Mim!!!!! Next year she will, I am sure, be helping out with our blue eyed Sid as his owner will have completed supervising the building of their house and will be exhibiting at our next champ show.

Aha - the plot thickens....Mim - did you hear that? That is the big, sucking sound of being drawn into exhibiting. Oh, sure, you start out keeping current exhibitors on their feet, carrying their stuff around (known as "bucket bitch"), taking the odd dog in now and then in a pinch. Next thing you know....

Be afraid...be very afraid... :twitch:

Yes well, Lisa has already worked out that the offer of chippies (sorry crisps for you Yankee people) and vino will convince me to attend/assist at most anything. So I don't think I can escape even if it is, as you imply Kristine, a fate worse than death. :twitch:
Except stuff to do with sheepies, scissors and show coat. I won't go there it would be too, too horrible.
Kristine, methinks you have been reading too much Dan Brown and conspiracy theories. Lisa and I would not ask Mim to do anything she would not be happy with!!!! (now I have to learn how to put smiley faces in messages).

Mim, we will gentle you into the sphere of the show ring, scissors and showcoat. You won't even know you have acquired these skills till too late.

I have spent all afternoon trimming Gaby for a show tomorrow getting her teenage coat into a quasi American clip and making her look mature. I had taken 4" off prior to the last show and now she is inches shorter again and shaped, shaped. You will find trimming a very peaceful and restful exercise!!!! I love doing it but have to remember when to stop.

Peaceful? Restful?! Ha YOU haven't tried trimming Tiggy!
Lorraine, Feed her, water her (Vino) and she is like leading a cow to water will do anything

Mims on her way, she handled babs for me a few times and even though we needed "L Plates" on she rocked the blondie and babs in the ring. Now all we have to work on is blondie not knowing we get her up to the stage of "Preparation", white wine she prefers  We'll get her plastered and she wont know any different from a "Bucket Bitch" to OMG did I do that with ones sheepie WOO HOO :excited: :yay:

See I have evidence you can train a blondie as well as an oes  :cheer:

Blondie and the showgirl

Big Congratulations on the win, Lorraine! Lovely girl. And yes what a bonus to have a physiotherapist alongside in case one is needed. Mim, great to see you getting "sucked in" as Kristine put it to conformation showing. You'll love it.

Linda - we will suck her in and she will not notice. Lisa and I together will be a deadly team of organisers. I also have lots and lots of white wine I have not drunk as I am a red girl and visitors tend to bring white. We can keep her inebriated for such a long time and she will come out the end a trained, skilled handler and groomer. Miriam be very careful come next October/November.
Lorraine to get past "Itchy" you need to post more on the forum.

Here is a lovely piccy of lorraines "Gabby" floofed up in the ring :D

Congrats Lorraine so happy to hear you both did well at the specialty, wish I was there, mim and I would of been "Happy" watching and sipping on vino. Your a red wine drinker? Darn it, does that mean I have to share ?

Gabby is all girly and love her XX well done under Shane the specialist judge, such a reward to go BIS under a specialist. Hugs to you and thank god mim was there to nurse you, peter to handle for BIS and I'll take mim anytime, she fixed me too last shows we were at when I pulled what ever brand new after mim went this and that and crack. 8)

Nothing like a personal therapist at a show  (psst lorraine I think we are both getting older, even though I have finally made it to 22 8)   )

I did say to Mim respect your elders a few moons ago and she is a treasure  :ghug:
