And does anybody have suggestions for cat fleas? Nothing works for them. We did pet armor for the dogs and cats before, It worked for a month on the dogs and not at all on the cats. Do you think it could be because they're bigger than the average cat? Most of the flea products say for cats over 4 pounds, and both of my cats weigh in at 14 pounds I did see a "large cat" flea product, for cats over 9 pounds, but it was 54 dollars |

I think you need to visit your vet. The stuff you get at Wal Mart just isn't effective. And I'm sorry, but any thing that works will be more than $40. 6 months of Comfortis (oral) is about $120. 6 months of Frontline Plus (topical) is about $120. So they ARE less than $40 per month. |
120 a month for six months? That's only 20 a month, or 40 for two dogs! I like the sound of that. Which one do you think works better? Still doesn't fix the cat problem, but I'm thinking I might take the cat in to the vet anyway. |
Oh wait, I see comfortis makes a large cat dose. That should fix them right up! |
I was really impressed with the Comfortis. After you feed the tablet to them, the fleas start dropping off within 30 minutes with a full kill within 4 hours. |
Oh man, that sounds too good to be true, I sure hope that works for me! Do you give Comfortis monthly? |
I've alwayas used Frontline & never had a flea or tick problem. If you order the Frontline online from the pet catalogs it generally runs about $11-$12 per dose. And yes, you can use it monthly. Key is to make sure you put it on at least 48 hours AFTER bathing or don't bathe them for several days after applying. |

I was using just the Frontline Plus for years and it worked great, but he picked up a few fleas last year while on it. And I've read other reports that Frontline has become less effective. That's when I added the Comfotis to the routine. I give them both monthly. |
The key is to break the lifecycle of the flea. I have compiled a page about this somewhere, I'll go find it. How to get rid of fleas from your dog The key to the lufernon approach is that any fleas that get onto your dog do not lay viable eggs. That's the key. The rest of this stuff is all treating the infestation and trying to prevent an infestation by killing every last flea which is extraordinarily difficult. Which you can still do while the life cycle gets broken. Kill all the eggs and you kill all the problem long term with a single pill that has to be given anyway for heartworm. |
