I have owned my iPhone 3GS since June, 2009. I loved it - it was revolutionary! So smooth, so complete, so error free (at least the phone, iTunes was still a problem). I was able to overlook the shortcomings of being involved in iApple's ecosystem: Lack of Flash support, closed system and so forth. The integration was nice enough for me to buy an AppleTV unit so I could watch AirPlay and see photos on my big TV. Note the key here... the BIG TV. I watched over the years as the competition scrambled to catch up, and Apple made incremental improvements to the iPhone. Just a year later in July of 2010, I predicted (wrongly) that the next great thing from Apple for the iPhone would be a folding out screen. They went ahead and made the new phone with two pieces of glass, but only one of them was a screen. That was pretty weird. And disappointing. The 2011 iPhone update was just a little bit faster. The new 2012 iPhone has a metal back and an incrementally larger screen and is a little faster. Meanwhile the competition has zoomed past Apple in almost every way. Screen sizes are much larger, processors are faster, battery life is better. Hardware capabilities including NFC, removable Gigabytes of storage, accessible and replaceable batteries and an industry standard charging system. But the big thing is... the big thing. I can see the screen. And it has a stylus that I plan on having some fun with. So as I mentioned here: My iPhone is dying, Long live my iPhone the iPhone produced nothing of interest and the Note 2 is getting good reviews. They're shipping on the 6th of November, 2012. Election day. But I've already made this choice. |

the Note 2 is my next phone as well. I'm due for a replacement in January, so I'll wait until then. As much as I love Apple, I don't see them going anywhere but down now. I've been happy with my Android phones for years, and will continue to get them |
My son loves his Note. I'm still leaning toward the Galaxy 3S, but I'm not in any hurry. I've done the stylus before, not a big fan. |
Good choice, Ron. Congrats & have fun with it. |
Good choice! Samsung is the best phone company, in my opinion. Mom of 3, I have the Galaxy S3 and I love it! |
My New phone has arrived! On Saturday, November 10th, 2012! It was only 1 day late... and I was given a $100 credit on my bill for my troubles. Not too shabby. My Mailbox was so lonely: I was quite ill, so Joan and Mulligan went out to check for me: Joan decides to camp out and wait for the mailman to arrive. I take no credit for urging her to do this... She gave up, but despite the hailstorm The Post Office Delivers! Joan retrieves the package. Well done! Go Joan, go!! |
Apple are about to bring out an injunction and have Ron banned from being able to post anything about his new phone |

Even though I just upgraded a phone on 10/30/2012, they list my next eligibility date for that line as 5/30/2014 or only 19 months from the date I upgraded.
