American (AKC) OES numbers, last 10 years (every year the past 3 years we've seen a roughly 50% reduction from 10 years previously, i.e, decline has been pretty steady overall): Year Litters Dogs 2011 275 719 2010 327 784 2009 348 895 2008 398 1024 2007 455 1206 2006 518 1403 2005 539 1460 2004 558 1494 2003 545 1466 2002 540 1501 As you can see, the declines were steady, but not quite so dramatic 2002-2006 (2-4%). Starting in 2007 we went to double digit percentage declines (12-15%), except for last year, when it was "only" 8 %. I know Lorraine has Australian numbers. Kristine |
