Harry's new title - he is finally an Excellent dog
His name is now .... Show Me's Harrington CDX RAE OA NAJ XF THD He got it in true Harry fashion. I walked and had a plan for "our course". We were running small to tall so while I watched the first dogs run with another exhibitor we were discussing the different course options. It was during this discussion that I decided to scrap the course that I had walked and come up with a completely different one. That is not something people would normally do. However, it suddenly occured to me that even though my new course would "pull" a handler focused dog off course since I would have to move laterally around a jump at the beginning of the send - Harry is not that dog. Not when an A-frame is screaming his name: "Harry" "Harry" "Harry". In fact we had this same scenario in a Standard course a few weeks earlier. He was not supposed to take the A-frame and should not have since I was pre-cuing him, my body was pointed in the direction of the correct obstacle and I was calling his name, but he took the A-frame anyway. But this time it seemed the best option because the other entries into the send were not necessarily a sure thing and I felt confident that Harry wouldn't even bother to see where I was until he was on the apex of the A-frame. I was right of course. Basically I took advantage of his weakness and we made "lemonade" so to speak. It seems fitting that we got the title this way. Being Harry and all.  AND now for a brag within a brag - he got twenty of his points on jumps!!!! Yes - for those of you who know him - he kept all of this bars up!!!  |
