Seeing I work all this weekend, Todd and I took both Bond and Chewie to a great little park near our house yesterday as a birthday treat. It's always been a favorite, as we live out on the prairie surrounded by crops. This park is nestled in the oxbows of a river and is nice and wooded. Wildwood County Park: And of course there are the usual cornfields just to get in there! The first thing after leaving the parking lot is the suspension bridge - he took it like a pro Todd was ahead, carrying his fishing gear My water lovers had to stop and check out the river under us. It's really low this year (drought)...but more water than I thought it might be. We left Todd out on a sandbar fishing...and hit the trails! On the edge - ..and away we go! We stopped for a group photo, using the timer and a handy log - Then we stopped back to visit Todd - sadly, no fish Heading back - 1st over the regular bridge - Then the suspension bridge - better check it out.... The boys and heading back over - (I have to hold on to the side cables - it's bouncy! ) Back at the parking lot - it's bordered in big boulders THEN, last night we also had herding class (talk about a great OES birthday, right??!) Here is Bond after he got his turn...he looks so satisfied And, the best for last...THE END |

Great pics! I love the pic of "the boys" wink wink LOL Dawn, thanks so much for sticking with it and working through the technical problems getting these posted. THANKS!! Do you happen to have a pic of that suspension bridge from the side? I'd love to see that. |

I don't have one from the side...hmmm, gives me an excuse to get back and visit the park, right? For a little, totally rural tiny county park, it has 2 really cool bridges. |
Happy Birthday, Bond! Sounds like an excuse for ice cream! (I'm sure if you didn't get any today, he'd forgive you -- as long as you got him an extra large tomorrow!) Glad you all had such fun. |
Happy Birthday, Bond!! Such handsome boys |

Yep, your baby birthday is just around the corner. He did have a really good time at the park, and then having herding class after was totally icing on his little sheepdog cake!!! |
I forgot to mention, wow Chewie looks so different with the short cut, is this the first time you ever cut him so short? I wonder if I'd recognize Mady if she was trimmed short! |

This is the 3rd time he has been that short. The 1st time was after he finished his show CH - haircut day, with his sister Martha : This was 2009 And then last year in September before we went and did the TDI Disaster tryouts : (I didn't want us to seem too "high maintenance" and not get picked! ) and this was at Nationals in September - his 1 year of hair regrowth. I got home Saturday night, and cut it all off Monday morning - still in my PJ's. He was a bit shocked acting for a couple days, but now he is SO happy. He's such a hot dog, that less hair makes him so much cooler. I like the hair, but he needs a break now and then. And it's also harness season - we will be starting our fall carting runs to get ready for dog sledding this winter - and this it totally the way to go! Bond is a hottie ( ) too, but he's just going to have to live with all his hair for awhile! Ah, the life of a show dog... |
