So depressing

I know alot of people love fall but I'm not one of them. I like wearing shorts and t-shirts. I like the feeling of sun on my skin and the warmness in the air. I hate that it gets darker earlier. If it were up to me it would stay light for sixteen hours a day.

I put away my summer clothes today and brought out the heavy duty...flannel lined pants, cords, sweatshirts, turtlenecks, long underwear(hopefully won't need those for a few months).

We have a tree in the front thats turning bright orange but what I see is all the leaves on the ground and the work I have to do to get it all raked.

For me its just a depressing time of year.

The only season worse than fall is winter. Spring is a close third, but summer ain't all that great.

But summer is best. :D

I feel the same way. I hate the shorter day light hours, cooler temps and the thought of winter. I love the colors of the trees but that's it.

I completely agree. I hate the days getting shorter, it feels like everything is dying to me and to top it off I'm really allergic to Autumn (we don't call it Fall).

Sorry to rub it in but I'm so happy we had our first day of summer temps today. It's going to be cold for the weekend but daylight savings starts, yippee :yay:

You can hang it on me in 6 months time. :P
I am also not a fan of fall.
We all know where it leads to.
I know what you mean about the dark, colder days. That is why I moved to Florida...I always feel like it's July.
Sorry, but it is my favorite time of year. Look on the bright side of it. Like yesterday at work our furnace is being replaced. So with no furnace we also have NO A/C. 8O and NO windows to open. Since it got pretty warm yesterday (in the mid-70's) they blocked one of the doors open. The smell of the crisp fall air was wonderful. It may sound crazy but at times like this the smells tug at memories & I think back to when I actually was able to take time to really enjoy this season. Like walking to football games on Friday nights, taking the kids to pick apples at the local orchard, listening to college games on the radio on a Saturday afternoon while we work outside in the yard...... etc.
I love the cooler air and typically the lack of humidity. When I was much younger, my first couple of cars were older air-cooled Volkswagens and they thrived in the cool thinner air of fall. So when the fall chill hits, it always makes me smile and remember the days of me and my Beetles screaming around town. It was a very happy time for me. That and my birthday is in late October too!

Jen loves the fall too so it can't be all bad.

Color me a fall fan as well, despite the unspeakably horrible season that follows. I like summer, I love the extra daylight. But even though I can deal with the heat and humidity, the dogs are less than thrilled. So you're only walking early morning/late at night, limited in when you can train, trial. And then you are dealing with biting insects, not fun. I slug through, waiting for the brief two months that make life worth living (September & October)

The scents and colors - not just the color of the leaves, but the sun reflecting off same and giving the entire world a warm, cozy glow; the crisp harvest air, leaves me nostaligic as well. Warm enough to be pleasant, brisk enough to make the dogs happy. I can't quite explain it, but I've always loved it. Every weekend I swear I will go hiking somewhere like I used to with my first OES, but I never know where to go where I can run dogs off leash, so I never get further than the thought. Even a mundane drive to the grocery store is beautiful, though.

I love fall - but I live in the land of perpetual summer it seems. I welcome the end of 105 degree days and blistering sun.
I loathe and despise summer, especially the summer we had. Fall is my favorite season and I don't mind winter. Spring is nice, but I hate what follows!

That is why there are 4 seasons, so everyone can have a favorite.
I'm kind of a mixed bag...

I love the loss of humidity - and after this most disgusting summer, it is wonderful! I love the smell, the warm color and all the fun activities. Since I joined the dog back packing group of Malamutes (missed the fall hike - it was during nationals), it just adds one more beautiful outdoor activity.

I used to really dislike winter (yeah, and live in MN) - because I was always cold. I have bad extremity circulation, and all the things I loved to do outside were always tempered by the fact I would end up miserable. Then I discovered the right products - socks, boots, outerwear, and it has made a big difference. My dad was a hockey coach - and being in ice arenas, out at rinks was a big, fun part of my childhood. I also love going out in the barn, and being with my animals in the winter. Then after discovering dog sledding, I am so hooked on winter!
The downside is the shorter days...I really dislike that. I work 12 hours, and I'm going to work and coming home from work already are in the dark :( I always have a million things I want to do in each day - and lack of daylight really interferes with that. :(
If I had my way, I would move to a climate that is dry and sunny all year round. Maybe if I didn't have such horrible allergies and fibromyalgia, the fall wouldn't seem so depressing to me as it equals feeling pretty lousy. However, I felt lousy this summer too. So, maybe I don't like any season in Chicago :( The ups and downs just kill me.
I have started hating Summer - temperatures over 100 and no rain. Water restrictions, but a yard that looks very sad and unkept and 100+ waterbills each at the house and lakehouse. The lake level drops and you have to watch for rocks when you go out. Blue-green algae, so we can't even go out on the lake. Sky-high pollen levels for the 27 things that I react to, so I can't breathe.

We had a cold front this weekend, lows in the 40s. Just a heavy sweater and a lap rug, no need for the heat to be turned on (hate the smell the first time the heat is turned on). Bailey, the old lady, perks up in the cold air and acts like a puppy!
I LOVE the Fall! The air is so cool and crisp and you can cuddle into a sweater or next to some sheepies :hearts: I love cooking in the Fall...all those great comfort food like Chil and stew and soups...LOVE IT! The summer has been difficult for me in this mid life change. I so welcome the lack of humidity and a nice light blanket over me when I sleep!

Remind me I said all these things ehn its 30 below zero!
We don't have (Fall) We have Spring Summer Autumn Winter. I like the cold in my shorts & tee shirt
I truly love Fall--and all the wonderful things it brings--cool air with no or very little humidity--beautiful colors--comfort food :D -the smell of a fire-football-cozy boots and sweaters--and gorgeous sunsets!

It means we are done with high humidity--100 degree + days --weeds--bugs of all sorts-- and never ending lawn care that doesn't seem to make any difference!

I truly am a fall and winter girl!
I like summer. All the other seasons I have to run around with three sweaters on, two pairs of pants, four pairs of socks and a blanket...
