Quote: He spreads his front legs and drops down and bangs his chest on the floor. Oh... the DOG. |

Cute..but kind of sad a play bow isn't just automatically recognized! |
I dunno about the part about growling back ... I quess most of us take it for granted and recognize when our furkids want to play. However, I can't fault the poster as everyone learned it at one time or another...and I think it now will relax the owner that he/she doesn't have a demented dog on their hands but a playful one. |
Mulligan vocalizes during play. RRRRRrrrrRRRRRRawr, definitely growl-like, but definitely OK. It comes with all sorts of play behavior. Jake on the other hand if you heard that you'd better stop and not make any sudden moves or you'd lose that other hand. The vocalization came with stiffness and squinty eyes and was frequently followed by... CHOMP and lock on. It took a while before I became comfortable with the play-growl from Mulligan. I'm guessing it had something to do with my prior experiences. LOL |
Mady and Gracie growl a lot when playing with me... I might growl back (ask the neighbours). If I drop down to the floor too, it drives all three into a frenzy! |
Bella makes a "wookie" type sound (from star wars) when she wants to play. My hubby still doesn't understand what she is asking when she makes that noise and thinks I'm nuts when I tell him to play with her. |
