What tablet should I get?

And I'm not talking about the fancy iPad type tablets, I'm asking about like a wacom tablet for drawing on the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions? There's just so many different options! I want one that's good for both drawing things, and photo editing, and hopefully not too expensive!

I have Intuos5 touch (Medium) Professional Pen Tablet. Love it! I see the wacom site is selling a bundle the tablet with adobe lightroom awsome photo editing software.

I actually get the all adobe products for $30 a month so awesome. You get updates all the times. You can download them all or whatever you want at the time. https://creative.adobe.com/apps

And the holy grail http://www.wacom.com/en/products/cintiq.aspx aaawww I wish!!
My sister has an older Intuos, 8x12 (or something close). She loves that size for her photography (she does it for fun, but has sold a number of photos in the last 5 years.
The intuos is just so expensive! I've been looking at the wacom bamboo tablets, since they're cheaper. I'm just not sure if the cheaper ones will work as well, plus I'm not even sure which one of those I should be looking at, I don't really know what's different between them.
Since my sister does use photoshop on some of her pictures, she wanted a large screen to work from.

The Cintiq has an LED screen to work on - very nice, more expensive.
My understanding is the Bamboo is a little less sensitive to touch than the Intuos.

I really like the idea of working directly on the screen, rather than the blank pad..... I think I need to start saving up.
The cintiq does look SO COOL! But is way out of my price range, of course. I've been reading reviews for the various Bamboo tablets and most people are saying they have worked with both and don't notice a huge difference in the sensitivity, though the intuos and cintiq have double the sensitivity. So I think I'm just going to have to figure out which Bamboo one I want, I'm pretty much between the Splash and the Create. The Splash is like an entry level tablet, and the Create has an extra large surface. As far as I can tell, there's nothing really better about the Create except for the larger surface, it's 8 x 5 instead of 5 x 3 like the Splash. I think I'd be okay with the smaller surface, is it much harder to work on a smaller surface?

Do you just want it to play around with for fun or do you plan to use it for something that is part of your job or possible budding career? If you haven't used a tablet before, I'd start with one of the cheaper ones first to see if you like it. Working on a tablet is not as easy and intuitive as it might seem. There's definitely a curve in getting used to using one, just in the timing and pressure alone not even considering choosing different stylus nubs for different looks.

That being said, I have the large Wacom Intuous 5 and it's an excellent tablet, especially in comparison to some cheap off brand ones that I've used. I like it for very specific purposes. I'm a graphic designer and have used a mouse for so many years to do a lot of the things that I do, I honestly just prefer to use the mouse. I use the tablet when I want to add hand drawn shapes or swooshes to a drawing or if I want to do a very particular, precise edit to a photo that just won't work with a mouse. To be honest, if work hadn't bought it, and I had to pay out of pocket, I probably would've bought a cheaper model myself. Though a lot of people love and swear by them, I just don't love using it and, even professionally, I don't use it enough to justify the purchase again. With that in mind, I'd suggest either borrowing one to play with or starting with something affordable that meets your needs. That way, you can see if it's something you're actually comfortable with and want to keep using. There's nothing worse than shelling out a bunch of money for something that you only kind of like!

Good luck!
Right now, it would be for fun, but I'm starting college soon and I'm going into graphic design, so I imagine I'd use it for that. I'm on a laptop and I don't have a mouse for it, so I would think it would work a bit better than trying to do things with my trackpad (which is pretty difficult). I like to draw things by hand a lot. I can't imagine that the cheaper wacom tablets wouldn't work that well. so I think I'll be starting with one of those. I can always upgrade later if I want :)
Well I am going for a Ipad 3

Aw, you have to get a mouse, lol. You're torturing yourself with just a trackpad!

Do you have an ipad right now? If you just like to draw, there's a really cool app called Paper (http://www.fiftythree.com/paper). Check out the gallery of things that people have done. It's only $2 per brush and you can buy any compatible stylus for the drawing part. I have a Wacom Bamboo but I've used crappier ones that work fine, too (just a little less sensitivity and they don't last as long).
I don't have an iPad, I'm super anti-apple on most things.

Do you like your wacom bamboo? That's what we're looking at, particularly, the bamboo splash.
I was being honest & i have a laptop but the ipad is free

I just have the bamboo stylus, not the tablet. I only have the Intuous 4.
Ooh, okay. Whoops :)
