Okay "Momeye" is a made up word but I figured it's the female counterpart of Popeye! Ron you'd appreciate this story perhaps as you may remember when I once helped my then teen son deliver a huge cabinet at his first job at a cabinet manufacturing company. The company didn't deliver and wanting to help an elderly lady he offered to deliver this huge 8 foot pantry. Of course he didn't drive and I had a van so lucky me got to help him. I joked that I now could add furniture mover to my roster of numerous jobs I've done. Well ..with my hours cut severely at work last year and Kaj having to accept a transfer to Montreal (2500 hundred miles away from me) I signed up for summer work at the school district. I got hired! Doing transport...um what the heck is that? Do they want me to drive a truck? Nope delivering those heavy file cabinets, office furniture, and 3500 matresses as our city was hosting the summer games. Well the first day I thought I was going to die and I'm sure the regular crew were probably rolling their eyes when my 100 pound frame walked in the room. Not to mention...cough cough I am mature and not a young'un. (blah hate to admit that..but tis true) Well weeks of doing that...I'm ripped! Luckily I had lots of practise lifting 40 pound bags on dog food on a regular basis. :O) I even learned to carry a 6 ft high cabinet down two flights of stairs when it wouldn't fit in an elevator! Only trouble is I'm 5 ft tall but I managed without killing anyone! Dolly's are a great invention! Then I was hired doing "Grounds"...meant face flat in the dirt pulling blackberry and rose suckers and pulling weeds in the school flower beds. Urg! In a nutshell I had 4 days off before I returned to my regular job working with high risk youth. The kids were impressed and asked if I pumped weights all summer. Yes, I'm boasting...but I like my muscles and now can lift those 40 pound bags of food much quicker. Good thing too as you know I have a lot of critters and lots of bags I need to lift. Plus I get to now add another couple jobs on my "I've done that" list. Jill of all trades - master of none. Good to be back! |

Dang! You've got crazy arm muscles! |
Thanks! My host of special needs/senior and cruelty seizure animals that depend on me are the best motivators! Because of them, I regularly lift bags of cement/sand/food/ and learned how to use power tools and build enclosures/fencing ect... Last years financial disaster (loss of hours at my job, horrible contractor that scammed us and Kaj's company closing their doors in our city and him having no choice but to accept a transfer 2500 hundred miles away) are behind me now and it's time to move on! I was determined that those events would not kill my dream of my animal sanctuary. Kaj's contract is for 3 yrs and then he'll be able to move back home. In the meantime I'm holding the fort. Good news my hours at my school were reinstated this year! |
Those are good things to know! Jacob doesn't know how to use an adjustable wrench, let alone power tools, so I'm in charge of those kinds of things! I think I would sit around a lot more than I do if I didn't have dogs. I have to carry food bags in, walk them all the time (and with as much pulling as they do, that's exercise for my arms!) and all the grooming, too! Good to hear you're moving on from the disaster and getting things in order! Glad your hours at school are back, too! |
Holey Schnikeys! You got a gun! Yeah, I remember the van and the delivery. And I seem to remember you moving about a million bricks, too. Don't mess with Marianne! I'm glad that your hours have been restored. Long live Riviera! (I hope I spelled that correctly... for some reason I always think of it as River Viera -- Riverviera, but I do remember it is named in honor of the one that got away, Riviera.) (note to self, apologize to Marianne for everything, everyone and anything else I can think of) |
LOL Ron! Yup that's right be afraid....be very afraid.... Jade you rock! More power to you and just goes to show that determined woman can learn to do anything they put their minds to. Having dogs helps as we moms do lots for our furkids. :O) |
I get that you were wanting a female reference but I think "pupeye" suits you better. |
Nice arm muscles Melissa and I have been trying to do 100 push-ups a day for several months now....we worked our way up. She has been more successful...maybe you guys can start an all female moving company So glad to hear your hours have been reinstated!! |
Nice muscles!!!! |
IMPRESSED At least, for now, you won't have the old lady jiggly underarms. |
Nice pipes |
Another great Marianne story! And arms! |
Nice ring too. |
wooo girl! |
Thanks everyone! Yup no jiggly arms for me but what the heck do I do about that whaddle (sp?) developing under my neck? Sigh, makes me think of Ally McBeal. For those of you that used to watch that show you'll remember that part. That ring is a silver Pitbull which I purchased last year at a local swap meet. On my other hand - my engagement ring is a silver cat that wraps around my finger. Yeah ...I know I beat to a different drummer. The only diamond I had was many years ago from my ex which I pawned for my dog's cancer treament. Those of you that have been here for ages may remember that story. I miss my ex....my aim has to get better. Nyuck nyuck. Marianne |
Nice guns! Cindy |
WOW you need to visit/holiday in OZ now and compare those guns to the Aussie lifesavers in speedos Woo Hoo |
Go Marianne!! |
