So much hair in front of his eyes!

So Leonard's hair is growing out now and it is now blocking his sight and I don't like seeing him bumping into things so I started pulling it back. I had to put it into three little bunches to hold it back. He let me do it (because he got to sit on my lap and cuddle) and didn't seem to notice. The only problem is after a couple hours of playing the hair starts to fall out. I think I need to wait for his hair to grow out a bit more... I didn't realize how big his eyes are! :)

he seems happy with the style... I should probably not leave the elastics in when I am not at home right?

I leave Eevee's in all the time (when I can get her to sit still long enough for me to put them in). I don't know if that's the right thing to do, but if she doesn't have them in she'll run into walls and stuff.

For us, the trick to getting the elastics to stay in for more than an hour is to put two elastics on each little ponytail. Eevee's fur is grown out enough for one ponytail now, but having a few works great until the hair is longer.
Have to admit to trimming Sprockets fringe as "it's not manly" to have bunches I was told by other half!x
I have to re-do Ava's top knot every single day. Lacy seems to think it's a "handle" by which she can pull Ava around by. I'm also working on training the wild nose hair down into submission.

But I have the same problem with Lacy that you do- Her hair is "just" growing out enough to do something with, but after about an hour, she's got it largely un-done, and is blind again. I use the teeniest tiniest little rubber bands I can find - which I get at Walgreens. I think they're elastics for tying off braids or something, because they are SUPER small.

We tried barrettes - and that lasts about 15 minutes before I see that she has it out, and is eating the barrett. Sigh. We should have named her Rags or something, she always looks a mess.
Benson's hair was so unruly when it was growing out that we used 3 barrettes plus a little pomade to keep it down. She was pretty good with the barrettes - if she messed with them, it was usually because I had one a little too tight, and it was pulling. And we do leave her topknot in all the time - she runs into the walls if we don't.

Good luck. :)
Ru was using it as a handle too! I put one in his hair to even the playing field.
So glad I was this post as I am growing both my dogs hair out after their shorty summer cut! I've been keeping them in "bangs" but now want to grow the hair out and was wondering what to do during the growing out phase...I might add I am growing my hair out of a short cut too but I look silly with a top knot!
