Territory peeing? Help!

Chowder has been marking her territory more and more the last 8 months.

She, yes SHE, is 2 1/2 years old, and fixed.

It started at the dog park months back. SHe marked all around the park. It wasn't our first time there by any means but we hadn't been in awhile so I let it go. It continued but I wasn't sure what to do as we were outside and she is supposed to pee outside.

Then on a playdate with Dahlia, she drank from the water bowl second, took two steps away from it and peed, marking it as hers. THe bowl was moved to show her it was not hers. SHe even took a quick sqaut on Dahlia's bed to leave a little drop.

Now we are in a new place and she is marking the lawns and the sidewalks constantly. SHe even began to squat today while meeting a new dog. They were still in the middle of sniffing each other.

I'm gettng worried she is becoming territorial and this is just begginng. Any advice!?

Don't let her get into this nasty habit! Break it. When on leash and she start, snap the leash, say leave it or whatever term you use to stop and action and keep walking. When you reach a desirable pee area, stop and give her the pee command. Wait there until the deed is done. Of course correct indoor peeing with a quick and loud disapproval (hoping not to scare more out of her).

Yes, she is trying to establish herself in pack order no matter how temporary the pack.
This sounds like submissive peeing and more likely a persistent uti.... I'd get her to the vet first.
I didn't think of UTI, possible. Lots of peeing/marking could be a urinary infection.

But since this is around other dogs, I still think she's claiming territory....the peeing on the bed.

Submissive peeing? Maybe. Harry has a touch of that. Always the low dog on the totem pole, he'd use his pee to mark over everyone else's pee. Now that he's high dog, the pattern is established. I wonder if he can even pee without a scent to mark.
My first thought was UTI
How is Chowder doing? Any update?
We just got home from the vet. Chowder does have a UTI.

THANK YOU all for suggesting that as I clearly thought it was behavioral and would not have taken her.
poor girl. hope she heals quickly. but still watch for boyish tendencies. MO even lifted her leg trying to outdo the boys. some days it was a real pissing contest around here :excited:
Bailey does lift her leg to pee just like a boy, she's such a goofy girl!
I hope Chowder gets over her UTI soon!
