Pretty crazy for sure! |
We had some wicked weather the last couple of days but now it's cooled right off, going down to 5 degrees tonight Perfect sleeping weather and my dogs are loving it |
Hurricanes in NYC while rare, do occur, especially with squirrly weather out to sea......i.e. hurricane. Weather should never be boring, it is nature's reminder we are just ants upon the planet. Fall weather is change weather so curious things can happen anywhere.....except here apparently. |
I worked all weekend, but I did get some blurbs about the weather out there. Thanks to the hurricane, you get a taste of what we deal with in the midwest. Hoping there was no severe damage. |
I don't know how you deal with it in the midwest! Maybe you are more prepared? I don't have a basement to go into or cellar. I really have no plan for a tornado Nor do you usually have time to evacuate. Pretty scary! |
Quote: I don't know how you deal with it in the midwest! Exactly!! Which is why I won't live any further east. We have had a few tornados here but they are EF 0 and 1's. |
Many of the houses in the midwest don't have basements, either. They go to an interior room. I, for one, would NEVER own a house without a full basement. Basements should be code in tornado prone areas. |
I don't know of a single house anywhere near here without a basement.... I also don't know of a basement in my town that doesn't leak lol When big storms hit we don't go in the basement, we go outside and try to get pics |

Living out on pretty flat prairie, but up on a small hill give us perfect storm watching. No pesky trees or buildings interfere with our view. My sister lives right outside of Wichita, KS. Most homes there do not have basements, d/t rock layers and water tables. They are in a much more tornado area than us here too. |

You guys are lucky...In our old house I would go upstairs to get a better view but now we are in a ranch with trees blocking the view of incoming storms |
