This weekend I brought all three girls to herding training, I am starting Gracie (here), and I figured I'd bring Virginia along just for the company and the outing. We got there, and I worked Mady and Gracie, Mady as always was extremely intense and serious, Gracie was much more laid back about it but you could see she was working her brain hard, her eye on every sheep, and she's showing terrific potential. I had let Virginia offleash since she had completely ignored the sheep the previous three times she's been there, and she was just wandering around sniffing the farm, and occasionally barking at me or Gracie from outside the pen. But the last turn for Gracie, Virginia was by the gate of the pen, and wanted to wander in, our trainer said sure let her in, I figured she would just wander around sniffing and enjoying herself while I worked with Gracie. But NO!!!! Virginia was after the sheep!!! She circled them, barked as needed, kept them together and was herding the sheep!!!! I held on to Gracie and we let Virginia do her thing for a good 10 minutes. I couldn't belive it, I had tears in my eyes Virginia's a bona fide sheepdog! I'm so proud of my girls! |

Virginia figured after raising puppies, she didn't need to be chasing after something, but when she saw the others having such fun, she decided, "Heck, let this old lady show them how to do it." Good Virginia. |
Virginia just wanted to remind you who has the real power in the family. |
