Cooper & Caroline

I've been waiting to tell you all about them until I could post some pictures. But, I've been very excited! :D I'm a first time foster mom! :D

Last Friday I drove down to Savannah and met a wonderful lady from OESRNSE to pick them up. They were found wandering down the interstate near Tampa, FL. There is a male, whom I've named Cooper, who is about 1 1/2 - 2 years old. And there's a female, Caroline, who I think may be his mom. She's around 3 1/2.

Cooper was in very bad shape when we got him. They both had kennel cough, but his was much worse. His feet were swollen and red, but worst of all, he was completely emaciated. It absolutely broke my heart. But, he has such tremendous spirit!! In the week I've had them, their cough has cleared (on antibiotics, of course), his feet are better, and he's gaining weight!!

They're both such sweethearts! I'm going to have a very difficult time letting them go to their adoptive homes when the time comes. But, I really want to be a "link in the chain" and help rescue more. And I know I can't keep them all - but it sure is tempting!!

I wanted to share this with you all, because without this forum, I would never had known about OESRNSE or been able to become involved in this effort.

Here they are:

How wonderful Tammy! I can't wait to hear more about your foster kids! I'm sure wth your help they'll be back in perfect shape and on their ways to great furever homes soon! :o

Karen :)
Thanks, Karen!

They're both such sweethearts, it's double the pleasure!! :D :D

Caroline jumps like a flea! She's smaller than Cooper. He's about 26" or 27" high and she's only about 18" or 19". But she can jump as high as his back!! And she loves to be in your lap and put her head on your shoulder. :)

Cooper's learning to play fetch. He's just starting to return the ball to me now. He'll give you all the kisses you want.
How great for you-- and Cooper and Caroline! Maybe Beauregard needs permanent playmates...
I love her sweet face! she just looks like she loves everyone!

Karen :)
ButtersStotch - Believe me, I am tempted! But I keep telling myself, if I can't let my first fosters be adopted, I'm doomed as a foster mom.  I'll keep them all!!

Iriskmj - She does love everyone she meets - except cats. 8O
oh oh! There goes my plan to hike on down to florida and steal her! What a cutie though!

Karen :)
Best wishes with your rescue work, Cooper and Caroline
look so sweet! Bet its fun for Beau, new playmates to
chase the ball and frisbee with !

So you are starting a B&B~for sheepies !!!!

Why not keep them all , they could provide entertainment
at the Old English Sheepdog Tearoom !!!!!!! :D
What a great thing to do! Thanks!

Give them both a couple of rubs from Boston, but Cooper has a look like he's trying to figure things out, so give him an extra rub- behind the right ear, please- for me.
Zahra - I like the way you think!

Thank you, Ron. I promise I'll do that as soon as I get home! :)
Wow, that is a wonderful thing to do... and they look like sweethearts, especially Caroline... :)
Tammy,

Thank you so much for volunteering to foster Caroline and Cooper - they are gorgeous dogs! You are such an angel! I just can't imagine them wandering along down an interstate! How could people be so cruel??

Do you know how long you will have them? Has there been any interest in them?

Chris
Hi,

Oh what fantastic news! You are an angel for doing this. I really admire you so much!!! Being a foster mom is the most unselfish thing you can do. It takes a strong heart and a good one too to help these guys.

I understand your reasoning perfectly and as hard as it's going to be to give them up..the reward will be when you see them settle finally in forever homes. I wish you the best!!

Keep up posted as to what happens!

Marianne and the boys
Tammy,

This is wonderful news! Belle came from OESRNSE so she's extra happy for Cooper & Caroline.

They will flourish under your care and go to good homes and then you can help more sheepies!

J
Thanks everyone for your encouragement! I really do appreciate it. :D

Marianne - You're right - the rewards are great in knowing they'll get wonderful, loving forever homes.

Chris - I'll keep them for at least 2 - 3 weeks. I want to keep Cooper until he gets to a healthy weight. There are already several people interested in them, though.

Jil - I thought I reconogized Belle on the OESRNSE website's photos of happy endings! I'll be very pleased if Cooper & Caroline get homes like Belle's!
Hi Tammy :D .

Beautiful sheepies and you are an angel for helping them out. The pics are great and I'm sure these sweethearts will make new owners very happy. Too bad I'm so far away otherwise I'd bring Dallas to meet them and then probably take them all back home with me  . Keep up the good work.

Good luck and hope to see more pics.

Unlce pete :D
I thought about you, Uncle Pete. I really did! I hate it's so far as I'm sure they'd love you and Dallas! :D
Hi Tammy :D .

I had to keep Dallas away from the keyboard, she was drooling all over it. I'm sure there a lot of great sheepie lovers out there with big hearts so I'm not worried that you will find a great home for them :) . It would be great if they could go together to their bew home since they were found together.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Uncle Pete :D
Tammy-
What a wonderful and caring thing you are doing :D My hat is off to you, I know they will be well taken care of and most importantly well loved. I also love their names.
Thank you, Bestdogsx4, you're very kind. :D

I've just found out there is a couple interested in taking both of them! I really hope it works out for them, because it would be great if they could stay together.

Of course you may expect me to come back here crying when they have to leave!!

I'll keep you all posted.
Hey that's wonderful news!! I hope it works out!! In the rare chance that it doesn't...I know you'll be super picky and find the perfect family for these two!!

Marianne and the boys

Uncle Pete..I feel for you. From your previous post it's so obvious you've got such a big heart and would provide such a wonderful home for a rescue sheepie. I have no doubt the right one will come along.
Take Care!
Hi Tammy :D .

Now that is really good news :D . Glad to hear that they may be adopted together. I think they deserve a great home together with people who really care. I don't think it will take that long for them to fit in, when I adopted Demi and Dallas at 5 and 10 years old, I didn't take long at all and they had me well trained and we were all one big hairy family :D .

Congrats to you again for being able to help out :) . Keep us posted. Too bad I can't come over and dogsit in the meantime until they get adopted.

Marianne.

Thanks for the words of encouragement :) . I got so used to having 2 of them in the house that now it feels half empty. I really miss having 2 of them, I feel like I was getting double the love, double the fun, double the laughs and on and on...but I mostly feel bad for Dallas. I'll keep looking till I find one and I just hope I don't smother it to death.

Uncle Pete :D
Good for you! They are so beautiful and look so happy! I am looking forward to hearing all the stories they will weave!

Colleen and Gucci :D
Tammy, you deserve an extra special cookie for what you are doing. Please keep the stories coming, we love to hear the good news as rescue OES are brought into the world of OES-lovers (not to mention oes.org fanatics) and learn about a lives of belly rubs and cookies.

I hope the adoptive uprights become members of oes.org and keep us posted as well as you have.
Tammy, if you cry when they leave it will be tears of joy because they are going to a furever home. Now I'm crying!
Well, it's official! Cooper and Caroline have been adopted by a lovely couple from the Miami area. I'll be meeting them the weekend before the 4th of July.

I'm really happy they'll get to stay together. I'll definitely recommend to the new parents that they join us here at oes.org and keep us updated on them.

**tears form as I type this** I'm SO going to cry when they leave!**
Hi Tammy :D

Great news and a big thank you to the new sheepie owners :clappurple:
I'm sure C & C will be very happy and I'm a bit jealous since they might get to go the beach and in the ocean pretty often.

I hope the new couple do keep us posted and post a few pics too.

Great job Tammy :clappurple: :clappurple:

(I can't wait to get my new sheepie - soon I hope)

Uncle Pete :D
Well done Tammy :D
Just wanted to give you all an updated on these two darlings.

Cooper and Caroline will meet their adoptive parents next Sunday, July 3rd. :)

They've done so well and made such progress this past month, it's hard to believe. Cooper, who was so very sick when he arrived, has put on weight to the point he is almost at a normal weight for his frame. (He's 27" high). I'll take them both back to the vet on Friday, before they leave, to have them weighed. I just want know, for my own curiosity, how much they've gained. Other than a lingering cough, he's doing remarkably well. He's learned to play fetch and is much better on a leash.

But, the most amazing thing is, just last Friday, he decided to play with Beaureguard! :D Up until then, he had been slightly aggressive toward him. Beau's very easy going and he just shrugged it off. But for some reason, Friday afternoon, Cooper decided to get in on the fun. He romped and played with Beaureguard all weekend long. It was so great. I felt so happy to see him healthy and playing. My sweet little fellow, who almost didn't make it, has recouperated and is happy.

Caroline is ruling the roost with Cooper and Beaureguard. Even though she's much smaller than both of them, she lets them know who is the boss. :D She no longer acts shy and frightened. She races to meet me when I come home and loves to go for walks and rides. She's better on the leash, but still pulls some. She really loves being petted. I'm so glad she's going to a home where they'll give her lots of attention. She craves it.

And of course, I'm going to cry all the way home after I leave them with their parents. But, I know they'll be happy and well loved. :) The couple who is adopting them lost their own sheepie of 13 years from cancer a few months back. So, they're experienced owners and lovers of the breed. I know they'll be well cared for, so that makes me happy.

All told, I'm really glad to have had this experience as a foster mom. Now I know I can do it and what a blessing it is to have them in your life, even for a little while. Definitely worth it!

Thanks, again, for all your support. It's meant a lot to me! I'll post pictures next week of their "homecoming".
What a great story! You should be very proud of what you've done, they both sound wonderful. As hard as it will be for you to give them up at least you know they will have a forever home with people who will love them :D
Such great news! You're such an angel to be a foster mom!
Hi all, I am Ingrid, the placement director of the seoes rescue. I never posted, just read some of the messages.
Tammy is one of our volunteers and I want to let you in on a secret that I don't think she told you.
She is adopting a beautiful little oes girl that I have in foster right now.
So Beaugard will have a sister soon and her name is Maggie, but I think Tammy will change her name.
She is wild but oh, so sweet.
Ingrid
Hi Ingrid! I'm so glad you joined us here on the board! Welcome!!
On Sunday morning, Cooper and Caroline met their new Mom and Dad. They were very excited and Caroline christened the motor home first thing. But Mom & Dad weren't upset in the least. They greeted their new parents with kisses and received treats & belly rubs. Life is good!

Here Cooper kisses his new mom and you can see Caroline taking over the driver's seat of their motor home.

And here Cooper thought Ann needed one more kiss:

I thought I'd cry....and almost did...but upon meeting the Greens was so sure these two were going to be spoiled completely rotten, that I felt very certain they were in the right place. You should've seen them! They had bags and bags of different kinds of treats, new toys, beds, bowls, leashes, collars...the works! These two were running from one end of the motor home to the other checking everything out...giving kisses, getting belly rubs...it was great!
:D :D

They've promised me updates from time to time, including pictures, which of course, I'll share with all of you!!
What a happy ending :D Thanks go to you for fostering, great job!
More Florida Sheepies! Woo-who! I was in Europe while all this was happening. Maybe a good thing that I was away otherwise Sam might of had new live-in friends. I live about an hour away from where the dogs were found, how awful for them to be left on such a busy interstate. :clappurple: to the new owners!!!
What a great story!! That just made my day! They all look so happy to be together. It is so nice when things go right. Kudos all around. . ..
Congratulations to Mom and Dad, Caroline and Cooper
look so happy!! Have wheels, will travel !

Tammy, you're awesome, great job with the foster care !
Word is getting around about your Old English Sheepdog
Bed and Breakfast and Tearoom !! 8)
Congrats to all! Everyone looks so happy, and I'm so glad things worked out. Great pics too! :)
Thanks, Everyone
I really love happy endings, too!!

Now Zahra - You've got to help me keep a lookout for the right house & location to start my OES B&B TeaRoom. That's my retirement plan! :D
