I was just thinking the same when I read the title line - storms and deafness is a wonderful thing! We've got to that same point with Harley...most storms slip under his radar now. Only if he sees the lightning now does he get all worked up....or a really big boomer that rattles the house! |
There is the storm benefits and the door bell benefits. Before Ziggi lost her hearing, she would bark her fool head off if someone knocked or rang the bell. I use to have to shuffle her into the powder room because her bark was so loud it scared people. Now she doesn't even know someone is at the door until I am finished and closing the door, than she starts the fool head barking. |

Sadly, we have an alarm barking rat terrier who basically lives in the garden window for the sole purpose of alerting everyone if something appears in the driveway or looks out of place in the yard ....so even deaf Harley joins in on that madness! |
Ah a good front gate dog. I'll be needing one......or some electronic device to alert when someone is out front. Nothing like a pack bark riot to keep burglers away. |

A much more positive spin on it Yes, I do really appreciate the warning. It's just been a bit tiresome lately as the county hwy dept. is totally rebuilding our road this month and the graders, backhoes, dump trucks have been here non-stop. No one sneaks up on our house |
