Any ideas on how to stop this for good, right now I am just telling him NO. But that doesn't seem to get the point across to never do it again, lol. They both get lots of love, playtime, walks, etc. |

Ryleigh is 2 and does that to both my labs. MIGHT be part of the herding instinct. She does it when they play and when she wants one of them to go somewhere, or if the labs are being lazy and SHE wants to play she will run over and grab them by the back of the neck and try to get them up. They do a dead weight and hope she goes away. lol She doesnt bite down hard, never hurts them, just her way of getting them going. My chocolate lab Mocha is a pain to get inside sometimes, so I say bring her in Ryleigh and Ryleigh will run over grab her by the back of her neck just to get her moving, then she herds her inside. Again never a mark on the dogs, not even a wimper so I know they arent being hurt, just annoyed. |
Ava does this to Lacy on a regular basis as well, and they're about the same ages. I think it's part of a dominance struggle they have going on; I'm just hoping they either grow out of it, or settle the issue and move on! |
Eevee and Bailey do that to each other all the time. I just kinda figured it's a dog thing. |
We have that as well with Sprocket and Ted-Sprocket used to walk under Ted when he was a baby pup,now Ted goes under Sprox. They take it in turns to grab each other round the neck-there are some serious teeth between them on show but no one gets hurt, just dampX |
Thanks everyone! Yah, neither of them ever gets hurt, I guess he just wants her to go where he is going, haha. My parents Newfie does it to her too, guess those boys just can't handle a girl who wants to do her own thing! |
